9001 Reference Time Movement
After wearing the Sky-D for the last week (still love), it occurs to me that the reference time wheel moves counter-clockwise. This may be a better post for the technical forum, but does anyone happen to know why the reference time moves that direction?

The simple answer is that it's due to how the numbers are printed on the subdial. For the subdial to move and arrow remain stationary, it has to rotate counter-clockwise to remain aligned as they're printed.
If it rotated clockwise then the numbers 2-24 would have to be printed in reverse — ie: 24 · 22 · 20 · 18 ... etc. This obviously could be done but would visually be reverse from what the eye expects on a watch face. Printed numbers almost always increase clockwise. Hope that helps explain it. Congrats on the Sky-D! |
