You have to look at what the state and local governments are putting into the violent crime categories now. A lot of crimes there were categorized as a violent crime 20 years ago are no longer categorized the same today. Even with that, violent crime statistics are back on the rise here in the states.

I would much rather take my chances today than in the late 80's/early 90's. People tend to remember the past in much more positive terms than it actually was at the time, crime is no exception. |
