Icon11 GMT 1675 fuchsia period correctness

Hi,

Just wondered if anyone knows what is period correct for a fuchsia insert on a 1675?

Thanks Steve

Normally the fuchsias were found on the later half of the 1960s - on the white lettered Mark I dials and the other early white lettered dial variations to include the Mark 0 and Mark 1.5. But, over the past 10 to 15 years, many collectors that favor these inserts have added fuchsias to their GMTs from years outside of the accepted range which now seems to cloud the accepted era for these inserts.

And, may I also add that, like most accepted ranges for vintage inserts, dials, bracelets and other parts, there is no exact entry and exit point for these inserts or many other parts.

I think I have the answer....maybe....

Perhaps all vintage watch owners owe it to their watch to have a period correct bezel and insert, bracelet and clasp etc, as a first priority. Even if tucked-up in bed like mine is 364 days a year.

Then.....

Go crazy any insert you fancy even a quality aftermarket if you like it, wear it!

The benefit to me and others I guess your original is kept pristine and not exposed to damage.

The downside the knowledge what is period correct gets blurred and eventually lost as you just don't see many correct examples to study.

Once upon a time you were frowned-upon for such frivolously disregard for the rules.

What if I wanted to put a sub 5513 insert on my 1675!

The new era is here.

Opinions or alternatives welcome 🙏

Nooo. pls

you can wear and put whatever insert you want on your watch. Everyone's been doing it. It only becomes an issue when advertised for sale and wrong info is given.

Brando wore his 1675 without an insert altogether

I don't think he kept the box and papers either.

Okay no insert or a 5513 on a 1675 is taking it too far perhaps? 🤔

Go crazy with inserts, and after market if you want. Paint your GMT arrow red. I have no issues with that, but…

Like you say, it’s when people intentionally sell something that it isn’t.
The “blueberry” comes to mind, and one person that has profiteered significantly on that…
