I am all for GMT's but in this immediate comparison I would go Daytona.

The green/gold and black bezel doesnt fly for me... but each their own and cant go wrong with either.

It looks 10000x better with the ceramic.

AD told me today that some people buy the Ceramic on OF and also a full gold version and then swap out the bracelets...

I’d get the YG GMT or the WG Daytona on OF. Without a ceramic bezel, the full WG Daytona is too monotone for my liking.

Between those two, I would probably go GMT.

If, however, the Daytona was the OF version, then that would be it for me.

After recently seeing both in-person, the 116718 is undoubtably awe-inspiring, much more-so than the 116509.

+1 for the GMT; it’s a very heavy hitter. I doubt a ton sold despite its long run, and since it’s a 50th anniversary piece, a movement change either won’t happen or won’t matter (e.g. the original will be more valuable in the long run.)

I would love that combination but for some reason I don't see it happening anytime soon. They just realease the WG with that dial and WG bezel. They had option to put ceramic on it and didnt. Rolex opted to put ceramic on PM oyster flex Daytona and SS Daytona. All the full bracelet OM Daytona's have PM bezels (I think). So I can't see them doing it for this Daytona only and not do it for all the PM daytonas

Just my thoughts.

I think it's Rolex's way to keep the SS Daytona unique

I’d pick the Daytona. I feel it’s much better composed than the GMT. I’m just not a huge fan of the yellow, green, black all together on one watch.

Boring Daytona doesn’t even have a date. Hope you roll with the GMT for sure.
Best wishes,
Boom

The GMT is probably more rare with the green dial than the WG Daytona. So I like the GMT for that reason. If I'm getting the 116509 then I start to debate the silver/black dial or the blue dial.

I remember in ~2008 almost buying one for 15,500.... sadly I didn’t have the funds available at that time. 10 years later I paid considerably more

GMT bc of the color contrasts. That Daytona is a beauty though.
