The Sky-Dwellar is a cool watch but that is not a move I would make. The BLNR is another generation of the icon that is the GMT. While a Rolex...it will take awhile for the Sky-Dwellar to reach this iconic pinnacle.

I have both the BLNR and Blue Sky and I prefer my Blue Sky over the Batman.
The amount of comments and envy I get from people who know the Blue Sky is ridiculous. Most people tell me they have never seen one in real life and how nice it is. But aside from the comments, it’s simply a more complicated watch than any other watch Rolex has made. The Annual Calendar suits my needs as I’m always needing to date documents and with the date of the month changing automatically from 30th to the 1st, on months that do not have 31 days it’s very useful. It only needs adjusting the date once per year which is in Feb. For those that don’t know, the red dot on the outside of the hour indicators tells you what month it is and also a way for the watch to know if that particular month has 30 or 31 days. I also find that the GMT complication is much easier to read than the blnr. When I’m travelling and need to take a quick glance at the time, it’s easier to tell on the Blue Sky than the BLNR. Possibly because the gmt hand is not as visible to me than the off-centre dial 24 clock on the Blue Sky. Ultimately I would keep both and sell the Pam’s as they are depreciating rather than appreciating in the case of these two watches. But that’s just IMO. Feel free to ask me any questions but good luck and I hope you get one too! |

This is definitely a choice you would have to make on your own. I like the Sky Dweller, but I found it too big on my wrist. I enjoy wearing the BLNR, it is part of my rotation: it’s a very handsome watch.

OP -
I am kind of in a similar situation; I am on the short list for a blue SD, but would have to part with either my BLNR or my DJ41 (blue, fluted, jubilee). The DJ & SD are similar enough so I contemplate parting with the BLNR. But the BLNR was my very first Rolex and is so much more versitle than my DJ. I go back and forth; I think I would regret parting with my BLNR, but the SD is just sick so I am no closer to a decision than you are. |

Skip the SkyD and get a DJ instead. Better proportions, less cluttered dial with same blue you crave, better bracelet for a fluted bezel (jubilee) and half the price. This way, maybe you can make it work while keeping the BLNR (or selling a panerai if that’s your preference).

Looks like a sideways trade to me...the BLNR is and probably will always be the most popular of the two. But if you like the SkyD go for it....worse case you could always trade back....

Congratulations OP on the trade I am always confused with all the naysayers who don't want to see a trade, that's part of this hobby.

Of all my current watches my BLNR would be the last to go. Most well rounded in form and functionality for me. I've worn it in a suit, to work, jet setting, yard work, swimming, hiking, camping, military, etc... With that being said I would love an opurtunity to pick up a SkyDweller. Tough choice, but if it were my situation and I had to choose between the two I would stick with my BLNR.

I moved from a Daytona C to a TT SkyD because I found the Daytona hard to read, missing a date, and too small. I am a big guy and the SkyD is a better fit. The only attraction to the Daytona was FOMO on my part and I just didn't wear the watch.
Point is that I think you should leave "value" and alleged scarcity out of the decision process and decide simply based on the watch itself. I filled the GMT "need" with a Tudor GMT which I find great. |

It depends, the SkyD is basically a DJ with a complication, a very different watch to a sports Rolex.
Unless you can't do anything but get the SkyD, I'd pass, you sell that BLNR its gonna be hard to replace. |

If the larger size of the SkyD works for your wrist then I would make that move in a heartbeat. Before the Batman bubble I had was able to try one at my local AD. I really didn't do much for me and so I left it. Something about it.
The SkyD though is such a unique piece. Really nice presentation of that complication. I recently found myself in a similar situation you're in. I made the move to a SeaDweller 116600 and as a result need to move my 14060 Submariner and Pelagos to fund it. The SeaDweller is the perfect piece for me and I'm really glad I took the chance on it. I don't think you'll regret the SkyD one bit. |

I can't give my blessing on that deal because I could never fathom losing my Blnr. The Batman is versatile and a Beauty but then again so is the SkyD. One suggestion before you do anythig > Try it on your wrist...

To me, there's something super eye catching about the blue sky dweller.

Fantastic choice OP, congratulations!
Would pick the WG GMT over the BLNR and Sky-D everyday and twice on Sunday!

I’m thinking about getting a SS skydweller but I’d never sell my BLNR or Hulk to get it. Just wait and save. Or maybe sell the Panerai and save up the rest? The BLNR is my everyday watch and I couldn’t see myself without one!
