Looks Great guys! My Wife is in Cancun all week. I'm on my way over...

Just having some wine and a bit of an appetizer wondering what to do for dinner.

Sleeper Wine
92 Points - Robert Parker
Outstanding vintage for riper styled Cabernets coming from the Alexander Valley! Beautiful aromatics of blackberry and bergamot tea with hints of dark chocolate and vanilla.

Wedding at a Sports Club on Saturday night.
Took me a few tries to find a red I liked. The barman was very obliging and allowed me to taste my way through what he had available by the glass until I found this one.

From the Langhorne Creek area of South Australia.
Lovely ripe plum and black cherry on the palate with hints of mint.
Rich, well structured and soft. Drinking better than I'd expect for a 2014.
Wished I'd bought the bottle instead of paying double for it, buying it by the glass.
(this one wasn't on the bar tab)

Once, a very well known wine maker told me to drink and enjoy my good wine. He explained that sticking it away and possibly dying before it is consumed is the biggest waste of fine wine in the world. He went on to say that any random Wednesday can be a special occasion and worthy of a fine wine. However, he also stressed to never open the good stuff for people that would not appreciate it or if you have consumed too much to enjoy it yourself.

Just get some vintage Welches grape juice and let it sit on the counter for a couple of weeks. A lot cheaper that way. If you really need rose, just mix red and white to the proportions desired.

Words to live by for sure, however there is something to be said for a perfectly aged first growth...

Well said for sure. Like many,I save some"special bottles"for special occasions that may never happen.

So, make every day special!

Fabulous Australian Cab Sav Shiraz.
2007 Yalumba "The Scribbler" 63% Cab Sav 37% Shiraz.
Rich, dark, Tarry, full of intense plum and redcurrent, chocolate and spice from the Barossa. Took about two hours to breathe and just got better and better after that.

Fantastic picture there..

Sorry about the wine. Maybe a bit early but shouldn't have tasted all that bad, maybe a storage problem We ran out of time in Amsterdam as the wife wanted to go there, as late as they we're open we couldn't make it.

And they had a 1990 Bordeaux Canon La Gaffeliere St. Emilion hidden away as we checked what was available and I always wanted to try that and it was our anniversary. And the price was reasonable. I can get it in the U.S. but wanted to taste it closer to where it was made, taste better

Next time we go we're going late night dinner there

Buller Tawny Port from Rutherglen in the North-East of Victoria.
An interesting style that shows old oak and spicy exotic fruit-cake notes with rancio, and a slightly dry finish. Going to finish off the bottle with some good cheeses right now!
