I am certainly not wealthy, I have enough income to do the things I want and am happy and content with that situation, but, you seem to have lost friends after becoming wealthy. Are you happier now than when you had less money but more friends? Have you asked yourself the question, is it you or your friends who have changed after your rise in wealth?

It might be healthy to self reflect on how you show your appreciation to people you care about. Providing them with extravagant or expensive things as to show your admiration will push away the good ones and attract the bad.

Side note, I keep reading "cryto" and thinking of cryptosporidium.

People who say that money doesn't buy happiness, never had any.

My faith in mankind was destroyed decades ago.......I don't believe in anything but myself. You've got two choices, suck it up, or give all your money away.

Can't disagree with much here either.

It can be a little disconcerting can't it? I've always been such an optimist. But truly, I have lost faith in humanity as a whole.

No. People who brag and flaunt their wealth as a measurement of some misguided sense of success do.

No. I knew this before. My parents made sure I understood that true happiness in life was not derived from wealth.

Admirable idea but I have one piece of advice. If you don't want to experience the same disappointing reaction from people around you don't spend one second telling them or the people you help what you've done.
Just saying.......

Money isn't everything, but it's way ahead of whatever's in second place.

This is the lesson for you. That and don't tell people how much you have. They'll just be jealous and it will cause problems. I live in a wealthy suburb where keeping up with the Joneses is a master class in conspicuous consumption. I work hard, so does my wife, who is also a professional, I know we have more than most of them, but we don't have the newest M5 or Range Rover, LV bags for every day of the month, etc. I don't have to prove to them that I made it, I already know that I made it and wether they know or not is irrelevant to me. I've said before that I don't have to keep up with the Joneses, they need to keep up with me. But by the time they figure that out, I'll already be in my retirement cottage in Nice or Coronado. It would be fun to have a new 911, etc. but I'd rather retire at 62 and live the dream they'll never likely be able to afford.
Good luck.

There's nothing wrong with 'wealth' if you can keep your feet on the ground.
You can do a lot of good things with 'wealth' IF you want to.
I've met a lot of wealthy folks who were not very happy or pleasant to know but then I could say the same about poor folks also.
I guess it's like a lot of things - when it starts to become the 'big issue' in your life it starts to skew your perspective and push out a lot of other worthwhile things.
