Revisiting Old Threads
Please share for my enlightenment why old threads can't be revisited. Is it because they are simply old threads?
Not an issue I have personally run into. Just an observation of what has happened to other members. Is there a rule on that I missed? Wouldn't revisiting an old thread on the same subject be better than starting a whole new one? |

Very few people seem to pay attention to the date on threads/posts, so you get this situation where people are answering or reactng to five, seven, even ten year old comments, thinking they are chatting in real time. There are other reasons, but this is the main reason why old threads get closed (by me anyway) unless they are especially interesting.

That, and some tack on what should be their own barely related thread-post at the bottom of an old thread and people keep on answering the original post.. Very few members actually read anybody elses posts, they just read the first post and hit reply.

Is there a way to flag an old thread in the index when it's raised from the dead. Maybe a different color headline or a dancing zombie.
I've been guilty of answering a really old post (thanks for the nudge Adam). Of course, I should be more diligent checking the date stamp, but occasionally I miss it. |
