GMT master values

Appreciate this is hard to be accurate

What the thoughts on values on GMT MASTER now compared to 1, 2 or 3 years..?

I really don’t want to sell and can hopefully hold onto my watch for a time but wondering should I sell now, or in the future

Is a new watch worth more than a 100% condition watch in the future

Thanks

If you need the cash, sell. If not, then keep and enjoy the watch… that is why you bought it (I guess) after all.

Where will prices be in the future, nobody knows :)

There are a lot of GMT Master iterations, to which model are you referring to? 4 digit, 5 digit, or do you mean GMT II? Then you wold need to specify ceramic or pre-ceramic.

Watchcharts does a Rolex index that shows watch values in general have been falling precipitously for quite a while, after hitting a 'peak' about a year and a half ago. See the rolex index at watchcharts (I can't link thanks to post count).

They show a longer term image and some analysis about 1:22 into the WatchCharts youtube video named "When will Rolex prices stop falling?".

IMO, there is still quite a 'bottom' to fall out on values that we're a few years from hitting. If you're looking to maximize your value, you'd need to sell ASAP. I suspect most/all Rolex used prices will find a 'resting' point below MSRP at one point, though MSRP is likely to 'go up' a little to help that along.

So my thoughts: Your watch is more valuable NOW that it will be in 1, 2, or 3 years. That said, if 'resale-value' of your watch is high on your concern list, you're in the wrong hobby these days, the years of investors pumping up prices is seemingly over (and some of them seem to be going to jail!).

Likely down. Picked this up yesterday. Was probably a low - mid 40s piece during covid. Now a mid 30s piece. Also heard steel Pepsi(s) arrived recently to ADs on the west coast.

Wear and enjoy the watch. Price retention nobody knows if you want to sell now or later.

I imagine the resting point values are also influenced by whether a hot model like the BLRO is discontinued or not. I’m using the example of Hulk as a reference…although I don’t know how much this value has decreased recently.

Sorry OP that you’re not getting a direct answer. Too many trolls would rather comment instead of just waiting for a real response.

But you didn’t offer an answer either.

No one can know that answer. If you are worried about losing money, then sell it now. Otherwise wear it and enjoy. My personal guess is prices will go lower but never below MSRP unless Rolex floods the market which I don’t see. I don’t see the more popular sports models being a walk in and out watch anymore.

Wear it and enjoy it. If you need the cash now then simply sell it,how you could possibly predict what’s going to happen down the line is impossible

Probably one of those who bought the watch at the peak in 2021 as an investment .. The one who bought to enjoy it would never ask this question anyway ..

As for the value - it will only go down on the secondary market from here. The demand is down, thousands of fresh new GMT are arriving each week from the factory .. The trend is also not there anymore .. It's getting old at this point and everyone on the Instagram including their dogs seems to have the Rolex by now .. People will move to something else ..

What someone is willing to pay trouble today Rolex watches have become little more than ££$$€€ objects to some and little more.

Not sure why you’re posted questions like this on here. Many are desperate to get hold of this watch on here to wear… seeing threads like this drives me crazy.

Idiot who payed 30k for a used 2019 model when it was at its peak here :)

Does it hurt to see how much it dropped? A bit
Am I waking up everyday hoping it’s going up in price again or that it gets discontinued? Not really
Am I enjoying the watch? I’m not sure I got 30k worth of enjoyment out of it yet, but I have been wearing it every day since the day I got it, it never leaves my wrist, it’s useful for my job so I actually use the function it’s intended to, and when I look at it I think about how much I love this watch and hardly ever how much I payed for it.
It all really just comes down to always buy what you like, if you love it, it makes stupid decisions look a little less stupid, if it “goes up” great if it “goes down” at least it’s something you enjoy.

I'll give this a sincere shot without knowing the year.

1. Nobody can predict future market prices.

2. If it's less than a year old, it will be worth less if you wait. Brand new "fresh" watches are the ones many want and warranties are a selling feature, the longer you wait, the less you have.

There was saying that the best time to buy a Rolex was yesterday. Well, now, that seems to apply to selling.

If you don't want to sell it and can comfortably afford to keep it, then wear it and enjoy it.
Prices were higher a couple of years ago but what was your intent when you bought the watch?

OP if you're looking to sell, sell now. GMT values still hyped.

I'm always told "nothing available" at the AD.
