Icon5 DateJust 41 + BLNR + cash for Rolex Skydweller Trade advise?

Hello all.

Needed some advice on a possible trade of both my blue dial jubilee smooth DateJust 41 + GMT master 2 BLNR + around $1000 cash for a blue dial Rolex Skydweller with jubilee bracelet from a grey market store locally.

I feel the Skydweller would make the DateJust and GMT redundant and I rather not put a lot more extra money into getting the Skydweller. But is this something I might regret? Value any thoughts.

Much appreciated.

I am not very up2date with the blue SkyD prices, especially in the US. But sounds very expensive and not like a good deal. What is a normal price for a blue SkyD?

Imo you don’t want to know the answer. I would suggest just enjoying what you have and not look at this thread anymore or you will lose a lot of sleep.

That’s horrendous value wise even if it was a straight 2 for 1 swap. The fact they you to put in extra money is an insult.

Sounds way off??? Condition and full box set of the watches in this trade is very important factor. What are the numbers for each watch they are giving you toward this trade??

I have a DJ41 and a BLNR. I wouldn’t do that trade in a million years.

The value on the trade is off in a significant way toward the dealer. As far as the watches go, your choice, but this is a two for one I would not do.

The Datejust and the GMT-Master is far more diverse collection than a Sky-Dweller alone…also, the Sky-Dweller is rather bulky feeling due to its annual calendar complication, you need a bigger wrist for this watch….

I feel the blue sky dweller on jubilee is the most beautiful watch I’ve ever seen. Having said that both your watches “grey prices” add up to more than what the blue sky dweller is going for on the grey market. I agree with someone else on this thread that the $1000 out of pocket is in insult. You could sell both your watches and probably be able to purchase the sky dweller at grey market pricing and still have $2-$4K extra. Also keep in mind you have a blue DJ (that color is not easy to get in that model and takes more time than others to acquire) and a BLNR which is hard to get. You have two great pieces. If you bought both of those through an AD then I don’t see how the same AD couldn’t get you a blue face SD, even if it took over a year if he was able to get you the two pieces you already own. I would get rid of the blue DJ (sell or trade in) and put that towards a blue sky dweller and keep the BLNR. Also your current two pieces give you more versatility than you would have if you just had the blue sky dweller. If you do the deal don’t come out of pocket any cash. Good luck!

SkyD is a large watch. However it can be a one-and-done instead of a BLNR and a DJ together. Trade prices are hard to judge, but if you want a one-and-done, thats great.

I sold 2 DJ’s to fund my blue SkyD and never looked back. I would never give up my BLNR as a path to the SkyD.

What are you thinking? That’s not even close to being a fair trade! Also, every time I see a wrist shot of a SkyD, it looks too big. EVERY time!

No - if you bought your two at retail, then you are spending 22k for a 15k watch.

Sky-dweller is a Rolex with no following and history. It has a complication that very few people use.
But being a WIS, I do like it…..however, it would never be my first choice and I would not give up any other Rolex for it.
I’d rather keep a DJ and a GMT. A lot more fun, versatility and history in those 2 models.
