What's the reality for a new customer for AP?

Hi,
Do anyone have experience with AP AD? I’m looking for AP code 11.59 chronograph. Do any of you know what will be real waiting time for chronograph for customer with or without spending history? Do I really can get one at retail? By the way what’s the msrp because I can’t find it? How much premium is on those watches at grey market? I just would like to know before I make my decision because my nearest AP AD is 2 hours drive. I know that this is not most popular model in AP range so maybe I have a chance. Just asking for experience?

If you are hunting a CODE and do not want to buy other pieces in the future I would go gray. You can get the chronograph code (minus a few models) at a discount on the gray market. If you want to go the boutique route, getting one shouldn't be too hard (with the exception of the blue models). You are looking $50k plus taxes retail for a CODE chrono. Schedule an appointment with your nearest boutique and introduce yourself and discuss the model you want.

I was offered a 3 Code chronos of different configurations in a span of 6 months before I settled on my preference (blue, WG). This was my first AP. Just depends on the configuration you're looking for. On the grey market you can occasionally find them for a discount, but many buyers at retail have bought them to start relationships with the brand and probably are not immediately selling as to not compromise that status.

Since it is a $50K+ acquisition, I would skip the secondary market, you should use this as a starting point with establishing a relationship with AP. The wait isn't that long.

Most existing customers can't even get a watch these days, but for a code, you have a chance. That window is, and maybe already has, closed. Nonetheless, it's worth trying.

Interesting questions. Fortunately, most of the answers remain the same as yesterday.

"Premium" for the gold chronos is negative, there's a small premium for the ceramic mid-case chronos. Correspondingly, the gold chrono should be much easier to get. A two hour drive doesn't sound too bad to get real info from the AD, if one is looking to spend 50 grand.

Btw, you say "AD" - you really want to be dealing with an AP boutique, preferably corporate owned.

Depends on the color tbh - the ceramic ones are nearly impossible, blue is tough and the others are a bit easier. Best to express interest and they’ll call back in no time.

The environment is rapidly changing so AP will know best what’s doable and by when
