Hublot

At first I could hardly look at these type of watches but slowly I'm starting to take a liking to them. Opinions please. Stayed too long on board of the ugly train, passable or nice watch?

I like this particular watch. Don't typically like these, but the blue really sets it off.

I like it. The head of Hublot is a real creative guy. His disruptive approach to design and marrying different raw materials (namely ceramic, gold and rubber) is ingenious. Close to Rolex....BUT...Hublot are a bit more fast-fashion I think. Big Bang today, Black Hole tomorrow sort of thing.

The black and blue looks good together. The bezel is not so nice.

Fred,

That bezel feels much better than it looks - it is all ceramic! I have an all-black version of this watch and at nearly 50mm is is a BEAST. I wasn't sure about it until I saw it in person, I think the overall composition is excellent!

I tried on several Hublot watches over the weekend. I must say, they feel great! I compared to Panerai which I think are huge, and Hublot felt very natural. They have a plethora to choose from as well. Tantalum really caught my eye as did the blue one above. I stopped trying to remember prices when they were mostly over $15,000. To me, that is another DD in the 118238 style!

Beautiful watches, and very comfortable. Also, Hublot is a hands-on company, with a very nice community of owners. The downside, in my opinion, is that like many of the big, colorful watches we've seen emerge in the past few years, eventually they will become associated with a period that we're no longer living in.

I was surprised to hear the same from salespeople in two prominent ADs carrying Hublot, who also believe that (in their words) "this is an aesthetic that will appeal for a limited time only".

But...if that time is now for you, then by all means!

buy the watch if you like it
buy the watch if you like the price
but remember todays fashion is tomorrows sales rack.I would buy a classic over a fashion watch everytime.

Love the dial, not so keen on the rest of the watch. Blue on a watch dial looks so good

I have a big bang I got it about a month ago and really like the feel of the band. You would think rubber can bend very easy, but feels very strong and well built. Its a very enjoyable time piece to own.

They have some very eyecatching pieces, but the cockeyed screws always throw me for a loop. Maybe one day...

Do you mean the version where even the numbers on the dial are black? That's a bit TOO black for me and that's why I like this blue-toned version better

Just saw it a few days ago in the San Juan Airport of all places in the duty free store. Didn't quite know what to make of it...

Mike,

That is an awesome watch. I recently heard that Hubolt was the first watch company to make the all black-out watch. They make an even darker one, with a slightly tinted face(real nice).

Watches are a fairly new interest of mine, but absolutely love Hublot. I used to think the larger the face the cooler the watch. Boy was I wrong. What would all of you reccomend I start looking into as a beginner to the luxury watch world?

I have purchased my BB King All Black Hublot last December in Poland. after that I moved to Vienna where I reside now.. Walkin by a watch shop, I stop and look at the window as usual, can not not stop when I am next to a watch store.. I heard this gentleman spoke in French and English with a couple, they were looking at the Hublots that were in the window, he said something about the Big Bang King All Black (it wasn't in the window), I couldn't help my self but flash it in their face, and asked them if they wanted to have a look at it or ask some questions about this particular piece, the gentleman smiled a big smile and asked me for my name and address.. I was shocked to answer him, I asked him why, and he replied to send me an extended warranty till 2015.. the watch comes with only 2 years warranty, so December 2010 was the deadline for my warranty.

Apparently, I have crossed paths with Mr. Jean-Claude Biver - CEO.. this is his hand written warranty extension.. (Now tell me this is not a way to keep customers loyal.. individual care from the CEO him self.. do you know any other CEO that does that?)

and below some pictures I just took for my piece..

Very, very nice and what a story! Truly amazing! And although I'm sure you want to keep the watch, a handwritten warranty extension like this one will enhance the value of the watch. Thanks for sharing

I love the Ice Bang out of them all. I think it is as close to classic as you will get with the Big Bang. I tried on a few in London today and I have big wrists the Big Bang King at 48mm(I think) did not feel right and if anything a little cheap imho. The Ice bang however felt great. I too am impressed with JCB's involvement with his customers and the 5 year warranty says alot about his belief in the brand.

The finish is very good but some of the pieces I fear will not stand the test of time.

Technically, I bought the watch end of 2008.. and he gave me the extended warranty till end of 2015.. so technically it's 7 years

The newer trend toward "blackout" watches is gaining in popularity, to be sure. Not always to my particular taste. However, blue is my favorite color, and the undertones on this particular reference have brought a blend to the piece that caught my eye quite well! I like it a lot.

I think they are way overpriced. Most if not all the watches have ETA movements.

I would prefer AP over Hublot anyday.
