Rolex crystal Tropic 12 vs 25-12

Hi. Am pretty new to vintage watches. I'm looking for a replacement crystal for my Air-King 5500. I believe I need a Tropic 12. But I'm seeing references for "25-12".

Is this the same crystal?

Ah ok. So no difference then. I was worried one might be original and the other a service replacement missing a signature or something.

They're all service replacements...:-) unless they came on the watch.

As to the profile etc...it's not a given thing by number designation.

There are no sigs on plastic crystals.

Is there a difference between the service replacement and the original?

The older may have a different plexiglass material and a different profile but you won't be able to ascertain that from any numbering...it will be a hands on view that will tell. The fit should be the same regardless. Tropic 12 is a common crystal that fits many watches. Older rounded profile versions are a little tougher to locate.
