Visited a Boutique to explore the Panerai straps options
Two negative observation, the leather straps are too thin for a premium brand, although the price is reasonable and that Tang buckle is just crazy expensive.
Just my opinion, royal Panerai fan please dun b angry..

Personally I don't find them that thin. They're to hold your watch to your wrist not tie ships up with.

You should look at the straps that come with the latest LE green dials, thicker than a whale omelette, lah!

Interesting observation.

So far, I only own OP original straps. The thickness is spot on IMO, however the price is a bit much when buying from a boutique. Yes those buckles are expensive too

I think Panerai's straps are excellent quality. Non-OEM offers a wider range of prices and styles, but almost never better quality (with a couple of notable exceptions...ABP and Dangerous9, for example).

In my strap adventure over the years, I went from initially favoring thick and rough to thin and smooth. Today, I like not having a lot of mass under the wrist.

I think it depends on the strap from Panerai. I was at an event last week and several of the new thinner Panerai's were on display and I noticed a thinner strap on them. The Panerai rep. said they were for the new watches. I find Panerai watch strap to be of the highest quality, for the most part, but pay for what you get.

Panerai's original straps are excellent. Straps on the LEs are much thicker.

However they are all too short so can't give you the vintage look and feel.

I always change to custom made extra long 5mm thick aftermarket ones.

The same happened with me, Cru.

These days, nothing beats a good OEM asso or some similar strap in my view. Fantastic construction and just sooo comfortable.

I found OEM straps are of good quality and dimension, but they don't work with my wrist size / shape. I prefer to have thicker strap to "balance" out the rest of the watch (44mm Luminor). 26mm OEM strap on 45mm Radiomir works for me though. :)

Haven't tried many custom straps but OEM croc straps are one of the best in terms of quality. It's just so well made.

OEM Asso straps I find them just about average. you can probably get a similar one for less.

I think 22/20 straps tend to be thinner.

OEM straps are excellent. They are very well made. Last a very long time. Fit the watch in all aspects. Fit between the lugs, fit the buckles, fit proportionally. They are a bit pricey, but are absolutely worth it.
