Icon20 Seeking Opinions on Vintage 1601 Datejust

Hi Guys, I would really appreciate your opinions on this 1601 Datejust from 1969-70.
I've noticed that the stick marker at 6 seems to be crooked and that under UV light, only the outer edge lume dots fluoresce, the stick markers and hands don't.
My instincts are telling me to walk away, but that blue dial is so appealing. Thanks

The 6 o'clock marker does look a bit crooked or twisted somehow.

The white strip on the markers is paint as far as I know, it is not supposed to be luminous. A lot of the dots have crumbled, you need to be careful with that, the crumbs might get into the movement via the date window.

The hands have probably been replaced, I have a similar dial on my 1625 and the hands act the same under UV light as the dots.

Thanks for your response.
I suspect your right about the sticks never being meant to be luminous, but shouldn't the hands fluoresce even a little under a UV light? Especially if their later service replacements.

Could be "later" but could also be 20yo+

Anything that's seen UV for over 10yo wouldn't be very bright IMHO.

Seiko excepted

I like it. The Blue dial and brown strap are a nice combination. All the items that are you are concerned about can be corrected / updated w a servicing. The 6 o'clock stick marker can be straightened and the lume can be updated w the new Chromlight.

If you are buying from an AD or an Authorized repair ctr, you should be safe. As long as you like the price.

Do research but I'd say go for it.
