Hey jordtattoos

I'm very happy this got resolved and they seem to have done an incredible job. Enjoy the watch! The 118238 is my fav watch of all time.

Love that dial myself. My 18238 has it. Rolex endorses the dial in an 18238 but you have to pay for a service + $600 for the dial.

Personally, I love the brushed/thinner lugs so 18238 was the way to go for me but still get the functional lume dial, best of both worlds.

Thanks all for your help and kind words I really do appreciate it

Enjoy the watch! I've had mine for a week but you quickly understand why it's the king of watches.

Day-Date 18238 vs 118238

I agree, you can totally feel why it has its legendary status for sure! The choice of the two was always going to be for myself at least the 118238 over the 18238, for me I just wanted to really feel that extra weight due to the solid centre links and also like the idea of having a slightly newer model for less water resistance worry :)

I’m no expert so I couldn’t say for sure if the 118238 - 0103 maybe came with a white dial also but I think you’ll find it hard to find a photograph online of that particular model/dial combo with white date wheels, they all seem to be champagne coloured. I’ve not personally seen the newer 128238 models in any dial configuration with anything other than white dials though. Again I’m not stating any of this as fact as I say I’m no expert but that seems to be true from what I’ve seen. Anyone please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong

Start by buying the seller first.

What to look for? It will all depend on what is your budget and your minimum requirements. Some people prefer to pay a premium for original Rolex warranty paperwork (full set including boxes, hang tag, brochures, etc) while others would just pay less for a plain watch.

Would say that a thick case and a bracelet with minor stretch is more important than the full set, preferred dial configuration or even the bezel sharpness as those parts are easier to replace through Rolex RSC service (service of the 18239 is about $750 and a dial and hands change about $500 for non diamond dials).

Creating a new thread would assist you more.

Need close ups. Judging by these photos, seems lugs were shaved off by a good margin. If you are still happy to look past that, ask the seller to show the bracelet stretch. For this particular watch, around half the money is in the bracelet.
