Brown or black dial?

So.....I'm dipping my toes into Panerai. I've solidly put my choice at 47mm. So, that left me basically looking at the 372, and 422. At first I wasn't a fan of the second hand, but I can understand it's usefulness (is this watch working?). AND THEN I saw the 663, but this has the tobacco/brown dial. Apparently it is a "limited" run, but it doesn't have the sandwich dial (which I like better), but I think I could overlook that. I'm just not so sure of the brown dial on the rustic brown leather strap. I like the black dial look, just not sure on the brown.

So...I'm stuck: 372 (hard to find), 422 (can be found), or the 663 which is more expensive and "limited", but not a sandwich dial...and I'm not sure how it'll wear. So...yeah...

What say ye?

I wouldn't go for the 663 for two reasons. Firstly, you prefer the sandwich dial, which it doesn't have. Secondly, I'm not sure about that tobacco dial as your one and only PAM. Part of a collection, maybe, but not as a one and only.

I like the 422 and it would seem weird to me to have a watch with no second hand but I'd still leave it behind in a zombie apocalypse. I like it but I don't zombie apocalypse like it.

For me, it would have to be the 372. About as pure Panerai DNA as Panerai gets and even more appealing now that it has a sapphire glass (which goes against its DNA but makes it much more practical to me).

Yeah...already have abused that thread for that photo. Now finding one is the next trick.... At the same time, the 422....

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I should mention when I get "the bug" for a watch, it escalates quickly to purchase)

If you are going for 47mm then the 372 is the way to go. They are out now with sapphire crystal if plexi is not your thing.

For 47mm, the 422 unless you're happy with 2 hands (Base).

Seems like you most like the 372, so it's an easy (and great!) pick.

If the blonde dial, I'd go for the 662 over the 663. Just think it looks better as a 1940 Rad. YMMV.
