Online source for authentic Louis Vuitton

I'm shopping for a LV wallet for my wife for Valentines Day. There seem to be plenty of places online that claim to sell authentic LV. But LV is faked as often as Rolex, and I would like to know it's authentic.

Does anyone have any experience with online LV sellers, other than louisvuitton.com? Or, is it better just to go to the AD (there are a few boutiques here, but pricing seems to be much higher than the US)?

There's a Japanese seller I like for LV etc. Mostly used though. They also have a decent stock of Omegas. Global.elady.com

LV never discounts, even to grey dealers, so there is no grey market for new products, the only real way to get a discount is to buy preowned.. if you manage to find any LNIB pieces they will be close to RRP as they will have been originally purchased for RRP

would definitely go to an AD for this brand if you want to buy new

I've bought some vintage items through a local Facebook group, and on eBay.de.

I know LV very well, so I'm comfortable doing so.

However, LV has a few online stores, like the German one, but other than that it's the AD. Many, let me change that almost all who claim to sell new LV online (other than LV themselves) sell fakes, or not new items.

Just bought my wife a never full LV bag, and I thought of grey dealers for sure, but buying direct from LV is the only real piece of mind, IMHO

Thanks guys. All good information.

I've been to the LV online store and their prices are better than here. I'll give that a shot.

Unless you have a purchase record you cannot purchase directly from Louis over the Internet or phone. They require you to purchase in person first. I went thru this years ago. Now I have a credit account and this crap gets shipped right to my door. Best bet is find a close boutique. Ebay is a crap shoot.

Direct from LV is the only way I've bought or would buy these products. I believe the market for fake apparel and handbags probably eclipses the market for fake watches.

LV is by far the most counterfeited and most valuable luxury brand on the planet. There are no authorized LV stores online in the US except their own site.

Buy direct and have the piece of mind that its new and its real

be sure, LV outlet or on line, I love the outlet experience, they have always delivered a first class experience.

Champagne in the UK, coffee and macaroons in Dubai, but the staff have always been exceptional.

I enjoy parting with my money.

Their online store worked just like anybody else's. They seemed to be struggling with my APO shipping address though. They wanted to ship to my billing address. I don't know if that is a security feature or I wasn't doing something correctly.

I'll head back to the local boutique. Based on all the posts, that's going to be my best option for an authentic gift for my wife.

Stopped in the boutique today. They gave me the same price as the US LV.com online store. And, they had this newer pink liner color that I think will stone my wife when she sees it (it's a surprise gift). Gift wrapping was free.

Apologies for the unfocused watch, but the wallet came out nice

I bought my girlfriend a 10 year old model for $150, still looks great. No way I could've bought her one new (I'm a college student) but I imagine she will have it for many years to come. The leather should last a life time, I still am amazed by the quality, it doesn't look like its 13ish years old now. Retailed for around $1500 back then, I'm sure an equivalent would be close to twice that now.

I felt the same, the straps are a lot darker now and it seems to just get better with age. Most importantly, she loves it, which I wasn't sure when I bought it, I figured I could flip it of she didn't. our relationship is a bit different than most, I love the designers, she loves hunting. I go hunting with her, she goes shopping with me.

She gets back from 4 weeks in India visiting family next week. She'll get it as a welcome home/Valentine's gift then.

I noticed there was a custom watch strap maker here on TRF using authentic LV purse leather as the material for the strap...looked pretty cool...if that's your thing?

An update.

My wife's travel was extended, so I went back to LV to buy her a handbag to go with the wallet (family shamed me - how do you buy a wallet and not a purse?). There was a short wait for sales staff and they offered me a nice espresso while I waited, not quite a diet coke in the can, but still pretty enjoyable. The customer service there was about three notches above the best Rolex AD I've ever been to.

Anyway, I bought a Never Full handbag to go with the wallet (both with the new pink liner). Presented both to my wife Sunday. She now has a glow and a new bounce in her step when she goes out with her LV.

Thanks to all for the great advice.

For those who've bought from Japan, how did duties/customs work? Some good deals to be had, but scared of having to import LV products.

So far, I've purchased a purse, wallet, and makeup bag for my wife - all in the same checkered pattern. I'm afraid next will be luggage!
