Awesome!

I can relate to the dragging my butt across the pavement part.

Otherwise, Wes..... you smoothie!

See why I love the coffeeshop, Mikki? All these cute guys giving us gals attention.

And hello again to the wild and woolly Coffeeshop. Happy New Year, belatedly. I was a-roamin' this great land, from the deserts of AZ to the beaches of DE.

Leo, hope you're feeling better. I enjoyed the pics of the vintage watches. Lisa, Karis, Wes, Bill, etc, greetings. And to Mikki with the crashing ex-husband, Salud.

Sounds like.

It was a wonderful holiday period break. I've seen parasailing Santas in the Caribbean at Christmastime before, but this year it was saguaros and red chiles. Not a problem.

Hope the girls had a great Christmas.

Glad you had a nice break. Did you go to the Grand Canyon? Eat yummy food? Some of the most memorable Mexican food I ever had was in Albuquerque. I'd love to go back.

Christmas was good... but glad the girls are back in school to allow time for a new obsession - finding a ring for my right hand to go with my watch. I'm going to the vintage jeweler guy today with camera in hand.... might have some goodies to post when I get back.

Me? Fun? But I'm a stuffy old boring contracts lawyer who keeps getting herself in trouble by drooling over watches rather than working so that I can actually afford one :-) Or two. Or.....

MOO HA HA!

Vintage jewelry...MORE drool. Damn! Cleaned some of mine up in ye ole ultrasonic yesterday and wow, they have STONES in them! How cool is that?

mikkibarry, the watch is interesting with all those diamonds plastered all over the place but I would never spend the money on one. Maybe there are companies where you could rent by the hour.....so if you wanted to flaunt what and who you are NOT(sometimes it's fun to mess with people depending on the situation)you could wear one to a party or event and return it in a couple of hours.....

As for a sports car(one of the best designed and almost hand built) as a toy, to drive in the spring and summer through early fall(I live in the Midwest...think winter)I would prefer a Hardtop E-Type Jaguar with a V-12.....I know convertibles are fun but their strength and integrity are compromised without having the frame for the 'roof' of the car. I have a very good and close friend(known since 1968) who is one of the top specialists in the country for working on E-Types.....so getting it worked on would never be a problem!!!

Take it easy.....Leo

Oh how I would LOVE an E-Type! I saw one professionally restored once and it was just the most beautiful thing! Unfortunately, the idiots that drive around here in Northern VA would destroy it within a week. Many of them seem to have learned to drive in Paris or something.

Lisa, not the Grand Canyon sadly, but Sedona and Scottsdale, so I had my red rocks. We thought about going north but there was already some snow in Flagstaff and it was supposed to be laid-back trip. Achieved.

Karis, I was reading an airline mag about an old ranching family in AZ, and a daughter of the family was named Karis. I thought of you, with that memorable and pretty name. Is it common the Southwest/West? Anyway, I was envisioning a Daytona-wristed cowgirl on the sweeping desert plain. :)

Scottsdale. My goofy brother lives there. I guess he still does, anyway!

Here's a few pics of my fruitful jewelry search... this place is an antiques shop, but the owner has a special interest in fine jewelry and one of the best collections of vintage stuff in town.

Some of these are old mine-cut diamonds from the late 1800s.

Men's rings - one of three displays:

Sorry for the blur...

This was on the woman's wrist who worked there. She bought it from the shop. It's a 1920s full carat stone, mine cut.

She was a good hand model.... here's an amethyst in yellow gold that I really liked, but I wanted white gold.

A London blue topaz in 14K white gold. I adored the color.

Mikki, didn't you say you liked amethysts? Here's a closer look at the one above.

A dainty blue topaz. A bit too dainty for me, though.

Crusted with diamonds. Pretty shape. Can't remember what this stone was, but setting is white gold.

I like the horizontal settings, though this one was a bit too delicate for me.

I wore both watches to match with rings.... this is a citrine.

I kept coming back to this one. My birthstone is a sapphire, and while this is a topaz, the deep color really drew me in. This is the one I decided on. It's set in 14K white gold.

Does it look okay with the watch?

The proprietor, Randy. He said to let you guys know he does ship!

That is an astounding ring display! So many, so pretty. I thought estate jewelry all went to the East Coast to die, but apparently not.

I LOVE the choice of the deep blue topaz. I didn't realize it even came that dark in coloring, like sapphire. Agree with you that it should be a nice big size for a colored gemstone used to balance your bold watches.

Yes from me.

PS, that 1920s old mine ring looks almost exactly like my engagement ring.

Glad you like that topaz. Randy said he's not seen another quite that color. It's got some dark green tones to it that show up better in person.

I just added a really awkward shot of my old diamond ring...I am not boiling lobster red in fact. But you get the idea.

Love the gemstones here, Mikki's too.

No, it's a good pic... shows the ring beautifully. Is that a vintage tablecloth peeking out from beneath your hand?
