SuperBowl half time: painful for watch geezers...

Watching all these 'tough guys' commenting the Super Bowl and there is not one to save the next one: all wearing hockey puck sized watches, one more shiny and blingy than the next one... Can't the watch 'snob' educate these fellas?!?

Hopefully Coldplay will put up a great show...

The highlight of the event so far has been Lady Gaga's performance of the National Anthem. I don't know how one makes it memorable after it has been sung tens of thousands of times, but I thought she was spectacular.

I'm not a big Gaga fan but she killed the anthem. The rest of the game is making me question if I am pissing away 4 hours of my life.

This is like one of those awful Super Bowls from the early 1970's.

At least it gave you a great excuse to look at your watch every couple of minutes to keep track of how much time you were wasting!

I walked outside to enjoy the warm California afternoon during half time, no desire to see any of the acts that performed.

Interesting on a show that CBS broadcast a few days before the Superbowl, looking back on past half-time acts. Comments made that some shows were about the music (Springsteen, Stones, U2, Bon Jovi, etc.) and others were just theatrical performances.

I'd much rather see the musicians with staying power as mentioned above rather than pop acts that nobody will remember in 10 years.

At least it wasn't a pigeon release and "Up With People" performance like the old Super Bowl halftime shows.

The Metallica show the night before the Super Bowl was a better show IMHO, good for Peyton though: I'm a Pats fan too!

I have never watched a Super Bowl halftime.

Also, this Super Bowl was not nearly as boring as many I've seen.

It really wasn't one-sided until the very end. It was just a defensive game.

I will say that it was sloppier than it should have been in terms of penalties.

I also do not watch the Halftime Show(never have) and instead took my son's dog for a long walk. Timed it perfectly and returned just in time for the start of the second half…..also I thought the commercials were so-so and glad I didn't have to pay 5 million a half minute of ad time!!!

As for the game itself…Offense may produce points but Defense wins the Super Bowl…..

well, I agree it was very well done.

But, what about Whitney Houston in 1991? I still think W.Houston sang slightly better than L.Gaga

I was at Furr's cafeteria when the national anthem come on, so I didn't get a chance to pay much attention to it.

I'll say this for Gaga. I hate her name and her shtick, but her work with Tony Bennett has been very good and on that level it's clear that she is extremely talented.

As for over-dramatic, the Super Bowl is over-dramatic. The pre-game shows are over dramatic. The halftimes are over dramatic. The commercials are over-dramatic.

It's amazing that they manage to wedge a football game in there somewhere.

I just watched Gaga's national anthem.

I thought it was excellent.

There'll never be another Kate Smith, I'm afraid.

Certainly Whitney Houston's performance is the gold standard to which every anthem singer is compared, but she lip-synced the anthem. She had chances in the studio to sing it over and over agin until she was happy with it, and engineers then reworked the recording to optimize it. Lady Gaga sang the song live, accompanied by only a piano. She timed the ending exactly to the flyover of the Blue Angels. All in all, I'd say it was the best live performance I've heard.

She did a great job, no doubt; however I'm sure the Blue Angles should get the credit for the timing.

On the video, you can see her look to the left and delay the last note a few seconds until the Blue Angels arrived overhead.
