Unless you are already on a list or can find an inside contact, secondary market is pretty much your only hope.

I was on a list for 2 years but after this last Christmas the manager of the ABC store decided pappy was too much trouble and threw away the list and said he would never try to get any again. Didn't even tell those of us on the list and it was probably going to be my year as I was now #2 on the list. Now I have to start over at a store 30 minutes away that I have no other dealings with.

It's the way of the world-of-Bourbon I'm afraid. Even retailers refuse to sell at retail prices anymore. They are routing their allotments to the secondary markets because they know anyone they sell to is just flipping it for 4-5 times what they paid for it and they are sick of missing out, the reward far out weighs the risk.

I have quite a few contacts that I spend thousands of dollars a year with that can't get me a drop right now. That's not likely to change for the next year or two...

Here in nc the retailers can't do that as the only way for them to sell it is via ABC store. But I understand and wish I could just get my hands on one bottle

New Hampshire is the same way but I know for a fact that there are still shady back-door deals that happen in that state, I've bought from state liquor store employees in the past on the secondary market.
