Submariner 5513 Meters First

What are your thoughts? Lots of scratches on the Crystal. I believe the hands have been relumed because they glow. The crown was changed, but still is here.Judging by the serial number the watch was produced in 1969. I believe the watch was serviced by Rolex in 2001.
It has a 93150 Bracelet 501B End links. So must have been swapped out at some point. The dial seems to be original. The insert was swapped as well, but have the original but missing the pearl.

Thank you in Advance.
John

Hey, John. Just to be sure, neither one of those inserts appears to be correct for a 1969 Sub.

What watch is correct for this insert (model/date range)?

I agree that the hands are probably relumed. Both of those inserts are service, you want a fat font Mk2 i believe. The dial looks nice, I'd say the watch is probably undervalued at 10k.

I'd say the watch is fairly valued. Dial is nice. You'll need new hands, crystal, service and a light bracelet polish. If I were you I'd just go for service hands and have them painted to match the patina color.
Might want to give the case a light polish for sharper edges.

Case doesn’t sing, but I bet that dial would :)
Price seems in line w condition. $10k is the new $5k lol. Agree that w a service, dome, insert and hand re-lume this could look special.

Really want to leave it the way it is kind of. Just looking for a valuation and some opinions if it’s worth it.

Thanks.

Don’t think it’s a loser at that price. Obviously can be worn and enjoyed as is.

A proper insert would really make this watch though.

I was advised by LAWW to keep looking unless I want a project watch and want to source all the pieces as the hands have been relumed which I was sure of. The only thing worth anything is the case, movement and bracelet other than that nada. ;(

Has anyone seen the prices on Chrono24? This watch would surely be listed at least 15k.

Yea, I will be the third on that question. Is the dial relumed? I thought it had a very nice patina and looked quite nice John. What did LAWW say about the dial?

Sorry for the delayed response, let me get back to Edvi and find out exactly what was wrong. I was kind of rushed when I spoke with him but was advised it wasn’t worth 10,000 in their opinion. I will be calling today and will update a little later.

Just spoke with Edvi and he said the dial was Re-Lumed but not with Tritium with no glow. The plots are non reactive to a UV light. They are not sure what was used.

I'm slightly confused. I thought when you said that the seller wants $10,000 for it meant that you were still considering buying it or not. But, if you were able to send it to LAWW, then I'm guessing you did buy it??

Me and seller had an agreement contingent upon LAWW assessment. Looks like I’m not buying it.

Interesting. Certainly possible but whoever did the relume on the dial is very good. Totally different job from the hands.
