Which GS are you thinking of?
I admire both brands greatly, the GS is probably going to be better finished, but if none of the styles appeals, then fine hand polishing is moot....

between the 2 you have posted, the AT is my preference..
It is a bit more versatile, and I am not as much a fan of the arabic numerals, but that could be someone else's favourite part...

Now, if you were to compare this AT to the gold marker snowflake SBGA059 (more of a direct comparison)... on the bracelet or brown leather, the "glow-flake" would kill it - textured dial, spring drive, zaratsu polish...

either watch is fantastic though... just follow your instinct/heart, and not what you think will have the greatest value in "social currency"

Between the two posted I prefer the Omega on a visual level. In general, I would prefer a dress version of a Grand Seiko to a dress Omega. I would broaden my search and find something very interesting from Grand Seiko.

Agree with everything said here. GS vs. Omega for dress watches - GS wins, hands down. However, if we're talking these two specific models, I'd go Omega based on pictures alone.

I'm sure if I were to handle both though, I bet the GS would win out...all that to say, don't judge just based on promotional photos!

Both dials are ruined by the date, but I’d get the GS. I own a SBGW235 and it’s been a really good piece for me.

Between the two i would take the AT.

Really depends on which GS/Omega are pitted against each other. Both make great watches. Like if if were snowflake vs moonwatch, i wouldnt know what to do. Would just get both.

GS has always been bang for the buck. Although there appears to be a conscious decision to increase pricepoint this year.

The only Omega that is bang for buck for me is the Moonwatch.

That said, i am a huge fan of both brands.

It's the LE SBGH263
Photo attached. I like the "old man" no nonsense simplicity of the dial. I have to fly to OZ to get this. And I like the "happening" dial of the Omega AT. This model we have it here.

Thanks

Hey oldman2005,

Funny that what's appealing to me was the "old man" no nonsense simplicity of the dial". I have to fly to OZ to get this. Maybe. Hahaha.

And I like the "happening" dial of the Omega AT. This model we have it here.

Thanks

Yeah, Spring Drive very innovative. Best of both worlds without the battery. I read somewhere that it's +/- 1 sec accuracy for the whole year(?)

Thanks

Fan of Arabic. But not into "social currency". Semi loner, leave me alone with my pipe while I stare at my watch guy here, ( until the wife asks me to cook and wash the dishes.)

This is all pointing towards AT Omega. Thing is we have after sales service here which may be a factor too.

Cheers

I have always liked that particular Omega. That particular GS I don't care for.

I would go for the GS, it reminds me of the original Seiko 36000.

That is actually better looking than the restraint Arabic numeral of the limited edition SBGH263.

Arabic numerals are just friendlier to my midlife eyes.

Thanks

I have photos of the GS model sent to me from my AD. The watch looks really amazing in these photos and I’ll find and send them.

I see that now, sorry, the pics weren’t popping up on my phone....

Of those 2, I find the Omega the more attractive too, but that’s because I really don’t like that particular GS, I think because of the Arabic indices.

Maybe the SBGR261 would fit the old man simplicity criteria?

That is a very tough question. I currently have the SBGA211, sbgj203g and a Railmaster. When it comes to finishing the GSs win hands down but that’s not to say Omega can’t finish a watch. However, when it comes to overall fit and manufacture imo I feel the omega pips it. As a whole package, the construction of the watch head and especially the bracelet, the Omega just feels more well put together. GS’s bracelets are good but over time they can feel somewhat flimsier to the touch especially around the deployant and locking mechanism. I live all of these watches and they are superbly put together but Omega at this moment in time seems to shine when it comes to overall quality and longevity. That’s my 2c.

My vote is for the Omega, I like the contrast of the numerals to the dial face....

Both watches are incredible, I wouldn't mind going for both of them, but if I had to choose, my choice would be the Omega.
