GS SBGR255 - anyone seen it?
This guy is kind of an odd duck but for some reason I always come back to it. I really dig the all brushed bracelet and the raised chapter ring. The crown guards, while somewhat strange, add an element of sportiness that I really like. It has the 9S65 movement with a 72 hour PR. I can't tell for certain but it appears the hands/indices may have black lume?
Has anyone seen this reference and perhaps have some real world photos of it? Prior to the GS rebranding the reference was SBGR055. The black version is 257/057. |

Wow, really nice. Love the angles and the way the crown guards jut out of the case sides. How old is this reference?

The most current reference (255) appears to date to around 2017 while the 055 (Seiko & GS on the dial) dates back several years prior to that. It does not appear to be a very popular reference because there are next to no photos of it on Instagram and zero video reviews of it on YouTube. Hodinkee has the white version in their shop, which is where I got the photos: https://shop.hodinkee.com/products/g...t=878019772431

I had one of the black dial versions about 10 years ago. They are a beautiful piece. And the crown lugs were one of favorite things about it.

So it appears that’s not lume on the hands/indices, but paint? Black paint on the hands of the white dial, white paint on the hands of the black dial. That’s rather unique, right?

Honestly the only two things keeping this from perhaps knocking the BB58 off of the top of my To Buy Next list are no lume and it is a bit thick. Really like everything else about it. Would make a great partner to my 214270 with its white dial and date.
