I currently own the SD4000 with ceramic bezel insert and have owned two earlier Seadwellers over the past almost forty years and they are a very nice watch. I was a commercial diver in my younger days and this watch is the most capable for any diving or other purpose. I owned the Deepsea for a year or two and found it to be unbalanced, uncomfortable and the bracelet is sorely undersized. I have large 8.25" wrists and it just did not work for me. Maybe it would for you. I think it is also extreme engineering overkill that has little purpose. Also the large case of the DSSD with small dial does not look good to me. YMMV.

My feelings exactly on the Deepsea. The geometry of the case was off. Too thick for the diameter. Also a pain to wear with a suit/dress shirt. I'm trading my Deepsea for a GMT II. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I have owned them all and the Deepsea did not last very long. Even with 8"+ wrists it is not comfortable to wear. I think this is due to the narrow bracelt on the large watch body. I also did not care much for the dial being smaller than the SD or the Submariner. I now own the SD4K with ceramic bezel that I bought about two years ago and a recently purchased SD 50th Anniversary model which is the best Rolex ever, IMO. The width of the bracelet along with the larger dial makes this watch a winner.

Enjoying my SD43, however it's splitting time with my 78' 1680. 43mm is still awfully large. Big picture, this is a lovely first world problem to have and you Can't go wrong with either Deep Sea or SD43...unless Rolex goes to an all white 43 in 2 or 3 years.

The SD4k is very comfortable to wear. One of my favorite watches. The dssd isn’t comfortable at all imo, very top heavy.

I really don't see why anyone would purchase the Deep Sea. It's too heavy, too bulky and overall too much.

I wanted a bigger watch. I’ve got a 41 President. This watch feels much bigger than that. At first it felt wrong. Too big. Today it felt better. Tomorrow it’ll be great

The 4000 is one of the best all round pieces I've had the pleasure of owning.
I'd go with it :) |

Sea-Dweller usually a better fit to wrist
Both are incredible watches. My wrist appreciates the Dweller more comfortably and most days/nights it's about better fit!
