I used to have a Naim Nait 2. The Little Amp that Could. I miss that one. These days with Hong Kong apartment size space constraints I mostly focus on Head-Fi. My vintage audiophile dream system would have a definite preponderance of Quad products in it.

The Martin Logan's were absolutely amazing... Until you turned your head.

Very focused. Very. Like wearing giant headphones. But I already had headphones so I was looking at dynamic speakers.

My father-in-law worked for Mark back in the early days when he owned the company and they were here in CT. Krell is a lot if the brain trust from Mark Levinson when they were bought. Very nice stuff and like Mark, all solid state.

I had a Quad preamp for a while- model 32 I think? I really liked the idea of cartridge modules that swapped out the back. I took it in trade and never used it.

Naim is a name I've not heard in a long time! So much great stuff from the past.

Does this count as vintage equipment? 1906, cranks up and plays nicely every once and a while.

But for casual listening I have my father's 1977 JVC "knobless" receiver with an 8-track player. 8-track was the way to go, one day the world will realize its mistake!

Naaah. No random access on the 8-track. I grew up with one (I think I still have it) and a big box of 8-track tapes. You are at the mercy of the tape location and if you don't like one of the four songs currently cued, you were SOL.

I'll never forget the KA-CHUNK switching through the tracks...

I run a Garrard 401 with a Jelco arm & Nagaoka MP110 into a Quad 24P Phono stage, Cambridge CXC CD transport into an M2Tech Young DAC with a Teddy Pardo power supply & Sansui DAB tuner (which also streams!) as sources into a pure sound L300 pre into JE Audio VM60 KT88 valve monoblocks OR Quad QMP monoblocks into Tannoy Arden IIs (cone surrounds updated to ones from prestige range by Lockwoods)

I know nothing about audio equipment Roy, but on looks alone your system is ultra ultra cool!

No, it came like that, it's great for isolating the deck, you don't have to worry about springs/spikes and the like as it's absolutely rock solid.

Thanks. It's took me a while to get to this stage & it's nearly all been acquired second hand with lucky bids & cheeky offers on ebay.

I must admit that they are worth another look Jim, they have some stunning pieces, I am constrained by size in my tiny, nearly 300 year old cottage, so I have discreet sonos speakers throughout the whole house, I wanted a bit more but really can't fit in a two speaker system in unobtrusively, so had a listen to a Naim Mu-so qb, it is entry level but sounds fabulous and is small enough, I bought one straight away. Ever since, I have been planning how to get two speakers and a Naim Unity Atom in the place, I am finding it difficult.

Picked up a pair of McIntosh MC611 monoblocks a month or so ago. Enjoy the music :)

I have a serious case of plinth envy! Great turntable. I have a Rega P25 with a Denon 103-R cartridge modified by Peter Ledermann at Soundsmith. It sits on a large granite base that very effectively isolates it from any floor or other vibrations. It's been in storage with most of my stuff in Fargo for 14 months as I built a new house, but I move in on Thursday. I've missed my two-channel setup more than any other item in storage.

Got a NAD 3020D hooked up to a pair of Polk RT5 bookshelves in my living room. Not super high-end but pretty enjoyable to listen to.

I sometimes wonder if my main system is a sledgehammer to crack a nut, got a mint 1990 Pioneer receiver I use in a bedroom system I got for not much money off the bay, sounds great with some wharfedale 155s & I think I get as much enjoyment out of this system for a fraction of the cost. Maybe I’ll sell off main system and get another Rolex

It's fun to look back through this thread. Some great equipment here. I've set up my two channel system in the new house. I swapped out my PS Audio HCA-2 Class-D amplifier and replaced it with my 200 watt per channel McIntosh MC 2200 amp. It's old, but the sound is amazing, and these are selling for up to $2,000 online currently. I tried the McIntosh C-26 preamp in the system, but my Nakamichi CA-7A preamp blows it away. The phono stage on the Nakamichi was designed in 1985 by Nelson Pass, and it's one of the best you can get for the money. The turntable is a Rega P25 with an RB-300 arm and heavily modded Denon DL-103R cartridge. The CD player is a Rega Apollo. Spendor S9e speakers. I'm not wild about the sound in the new house with hardwood floors and smooth ceilings. I need some acoustic treatments in the room to reduce the reflections.
