We move into the house in 12 days. Getting pretty excited. The concrete portion of the driveway, sidewalks and asphalt to the road come next week if the weather holds.

We have tried to maximize storage in the house. Here is part of the master bedroom closet. There are similar shelves and drawers on the opposite wall of the closet.

We designed the railing and my brother Dan built it. Really happy with it so far. There are end caps that fit on top of the posts.

The stone masons worked all week on the front porch and the wall facing. There will be two large tapered pillars on each side of the steps and a single pillar on the corner. The overhang trusses will be wrapped in wood to look like beams.

The place is looking great. Once the stress of the build is over and you move in that's when the fun starts, christening every room of the house.
We won't need photos of that though Haha.

I hope the rest of the outside civil works go as well as the house itself.

WOW. What beautiful cabinets!! We just bought our first lot and will be building as soon as our house sells. We are in no rush so we will see when that happens

Paul, your room has the best nature views in the whole house. Looks down on the Pelican River and Mill Pond. Deer, foxes, turkeys and we think Black Bears wandering by. (But no feeding the bears through the window.) Any wall color requests?

Thanks! We are thrilled with the cabinets and the knotty alder wood. The cabinet maker is well known in Minnesota and North Dakota for meticulous quality. I love the stain color too.

I installed the mailbox today. I told my spouse that one doesn't want to spend a lot of money on a rural mailbox, because they frequently get knocked over by snowplows, vandals or ATVs. I took this photo....

...and a half hour later, the mailbox got knocked over by the trenching machine laying fiberoptic cable to the house.

Biggest worry in Texas was teenagers on Friday night swinging bats. Steel posts solve those issues!

We have a boat slip for our pontoon and a swimming beach a couple hundred yards down a path to the lake. This was the sunset tonight.

Since you're installing a new mailbox... Buy the extra large size metal mailbox. Most Amazon and online shipping boxes will fit inside, which saves the postman and UPS a trip up your drive.

I'm on the end of a dead and road and the school buses and garbage trucks back into mine when they turn around. I switched to a 2 inch stainless steel tube buried three feet deep and a single screw to hold the box on. It's strong enough to hold it for the mail, but just pops off when they back into it.

Looks incredible. Did you put any thought into installing a heated driveway?

Anything edible swimming in that river?

Thanks, Harry. The driveway is 330 feet long, and the temps in this part of Minnesota regularly drop to -30 degrees F below zero in the winter. I'd need a small nuclear reactor to provide enough power to melt the snow and ice. The river runs out of Lake Melissa 200 yards to the north, so fish include walleyes, Northern Pike, sunfish, largemouth bass and occasional Muskies.

The move is going well. Our apartment stuff was moved today. The stuff in storage in Fargo arrives tomorrow. I'm hauling loose items now. It's about 88 degrees and the dew point is 70, so it's sticky. Everything is going well. When the move is done, I'll post new pics. Thanks for all of the nice comments this past year in this thread. You people are great!

And by Saturday, I will have the answer to the common question, "Is it safe to move while wearing a blue Tudor Sub 79090."
