rolex fan .. but I've always loved the navitimer .. convince me

Always loved that Navitimer look ...

Convince me it's worth it as a 2nd watch guys ... They're beautiful .. I'm not much for leather straps and dislike Breitling metal bracelet design, so it'd likely be a rubber strap on a used version ..

Anything to look out for ?

Good advice above. Pick the one you like most and own it. That's the only way to know.

As a Breitling fan I don't know if you would want to wear your navitimer on a rubber strap. It takes a lot away from the watch. That being said, to each their own. Before you dismiss the idea of a Breitling bracelet give it a try. I think you will be very surprised at the comfort of a Navitimer bracelet. Keep in mind that Breitling makes different bracelets for different models. The Navitimer bracelet is the top of the line and very comfortable. Good Luck with your purchase.

Go for it. It's my favorite and only Breitling. Due to summer climate (perspiration), I plan to put a mesh bracelet on mine...doesn't show scratches as bad as navitimer bracelet, very comfortable, weather resistant unlike leather straps, different, and to obtain that vintage look like when Scott Carpenter took the first watch into outer space...Navitimer Cosmonaute. I look fwd to the incoming. :)

Go for it but I don't think it'll look good on a rubber strap. I'd wear it on the calf strap if you don't want the bracelet.

Love my Navitimer.
I have the calf skin band.
I would not do the rubber strap as others have commented.
I briefly considered it for times I wish to take my Navi for a swim but realized, meant to fly, not swim so will use my Submariner for what IT was meant to do.

Did I mention I love mine?

Hard to go wrong with a Navitimer. I don't know i'd put it on anything but a leather strap or bracelet though.

Navitimer belongs on a leather strap and would look very sharp on a suite!

The Navitimer is an all-time classic. I had an 01 LE and could stare at the dial forever. The calf strap was the softest and most comfortable strap I've owned. To me it seems like it should be on a leather strap with white stitching (although the regular bracelet looks good too). If you get one, you may want to consider a cheaper eBay leather strap for the summer months which is what I did.

I eventually sold it when I was moving up to AP and VC. To me the 30m WR meant I had to take it off around water to be safe, although this may not be a big deal for everyone.

^^^this. If you can, look for this model. Breitlings don't hold their value well, so buy used and buy the 01 LE. These seem to hold their value better. Sláinte.

I have always had an undying love for the Breitling brand: design, bracelets, dials. The Navitimer model in general has always been my favorite, particularly the silver dial on the Navitimer World. That's why I had to pull the trigger!

Some say too big on my wrist, but to each their own. It looks much better in person and has always been one of my all time favorite watches. I get compliments left and right, definitely worth a second watch. Good luck!

I've got this Olympus and love it:

Right now it's at Breitling USA for its first service in at least 6 or 7 years, maybe ever. Not too bad for a very complicated watch. Some of us are old enough to remember the circular slide rules we used in undergrad school.
