Emergency V. Emergency Mission

Looking at purchasing an Emergency or Emergency Mission. The watch will be worn while flying as well as during normal activities like showering, some swimming, basically an everyday watch when I am not wearing a suit. I see that the Emergency is only water resistant to 30m! (3 bar), which would really disqualify it from showering and swimming, correct? I understand the WR rating is based on pressure to the case and not actual water depth. The Emergency Mission on the other hand is WR to 100m, which seems more suitable for the above activities.

Thoughts and experiences welcome.

Matt

The new Emergency is water resistant to 5 bars as noted in the technical data section on their website.

the new emergency is also pushing 15k USD. Im looking to stick with the 'older' emergency or emergency mission.

Had an emergency for about 8 months. Great watch, comfortable on the wrist, definitely a tool watch. Kind of miss it....

If in fact it is rated for only 30 meters then no you shouldn't wear it in the shower.

30 Meters
100 Feet
3 ATM
This level will easily withstand splashes or brief immersion in water, or getting caught in the rain. However, it is not sufficiently resistant for swimming or bathing.

to the defence of some. most think that 30m means the watch can go 30m under water.

common, VERY common misconception.

I for one only take anything rated 100m plus in shower, pool, water etc. Many say the speedy pro at 50m is fine for swimming but i simply would not take that chance.

They new is giant and expensive.

The old one is using a frequency that is being retired, isn't it.

I'd say look elsewhere.

I have both Titanium and Mission. For water activities, recommend Mission. However, Titanium has 2nd time zone, alarm, count down, compass bezel. Titanium is smaller and much lighter even with UTC on the bracelet. I wear my Mission on Bob's canvas deployment strap.

I'm sorry. I like the idea. But that's nuts. In aviation dollars that would buy a lot of safety equipment and transponders w ADSB and emergency locator equipment. The idea is great, but that's one whopper of a price tag on a breitling or anything quarts.
