The happiest day in a long time!

So, I've been lurking the 1680/8 - 16808 market for years, in no way being an expert on the model. Being close to pull the trigger on a few occations, I havent done so for various reasons, not least due to feedback received here in the forum. Thanks guys!

Finally the stars aligned and I pulled the trigger on this 16808 from 1983, and the joy just looking at and playing with the watch is hard to describe. I already have a fair collection, but with this one, the feeling is something special! And after fighting it hard I now must admit that I am a Rolexoholic!

PS, the NATO strap is my current configuration. Love that contrast.

Full gold is lovely. Good for you, hate the NATO on this piece though

Congratulations. I have had a nipple sub on my radar for a long time as well. Glad you finally got ahold of one.

Nice one... I like to mix it up too, but the NATO is not right for this beauty.

Beautiful piece and I know the feeling of finally having what you didn't even know you would like so much.

I like it on the NATO It would also look great on a Brown leather strap.

NATOs just don’t look right on full gold, but a nice thick leather strap would complement it well if you want to downplay the yellow gold

Blue rubber or blue shark or blue crocodile, for the more waterproof or water resistant aspect of those straps more in coherence with a diving watch.

And for the color of course.

I'm with you, totally understanding what you feel:

I have dreamed of a YG submariner for four decades and got a splendid 16618 with blue dial only few weeks ago (with no lug holes and engraved rehaut).

Not the first PM Rolex for me, had notably a day date for few years, but the submariner is more fun, I think.

Congratulations!

Thanks guys! Had it for three days now and its still as fun as during the first hour.

I’ve been thinking about blue rubber, but would like a strap with end-links to get that tight look. Are they around?

Get a rubberB or Everest band in blue. The ends are curved and hug the case.

I agree brown or black leather, if you have to take the beautiful gold band off.
