I've been stung by the GS bug!
Hey Everyone,
So, after many years of keeping my eye on the GS brand of watches; I think I'm there - ready for one to be added to my collection, but torn on "the one" I'm more of a sports watch type of guy and hardly every feel the need, or have the need to wear a pure dress watch. Read a ton on this forum and seen a lot of good reviews feedback on various models. What is your favorite GS watch and why? I look forward to replies and posting some pics when I find the one. Thanks |

There are GS sport/dress and pure sport models. There are only 1 or 2 pure dress models IMHO. I have an affinity toward hi-beat and some spring drive movements. My favorite is the GMT SPGJ201. Given the GMT function, case size and shape, this is more sport than dress, but can be used for both because of the outrageously cool silver dial.

Check out the SBGE253, 255 and 257 I think. They’re sport GMT’S with ceramic bezels. 40mm and have the Spring Drive. I think they all gorgeous. They’re in blue, black and green. My numbers could be off. The 255 is the blue one for sure though.

This one. SBGJ237. Went to look at the SBGE255, but this one was way better in person.

Anything with a 62GS case or a 44GS case. Iconic designs in their own right. The 62GS especially with the bezeless crystal.
Quartz, HiBeat or Spring drive movements? Up to you. I prefer HiBeat myself. I'm not a fan of the sport models. I think they need to catch up to Rolex or Omega in terms of wearability. No denying they are beautifully made, however the sizing and the design leave me cold. I was excited about the new GMT's but in person they reminded me of Tag Heuers, nttawwt..... Great watch. |

I've been stung by the GS bug!
For several years I really wanted Spring Drive + nature dial + blued hands + SS, so when the SBGE249 came out, I jumped on it.
I love it. |

My first GS as well, and probably my last. I plan on only having one watch per brand and this one is just perfect. Although had I seen the SBGA403 first, I may have a different GS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm waiting for the 2021 collection with the all new Spring Drive and Hi Beat movements. They've been heavily updated and improved.
Expect good things in 2021. 9SA5 and the 9RA5 movements are the ones to look for. |

Good luck. This bug has no known cure.
There’s one. But it has complications. |

I thought I would share my new purchase and this thread seemed perfect. This is my first Grand Seiko purchase. I have to say that I was impressed with the finish and how amazing it looks in person.

The 3 things that attract me to GS are:
True hi beat movements Spring Drive Hand finishing and interesting dials What turns me off on GS: The words Grand Seiko on the dials Thickness of cases (I’ve heard that the bracelets aren’t as high quality or comfortable as Omega and Rolex) and I’m sort of particular about bracelet comfort. |
