Nice pens bad pics...

I just received this pair. Hello, Japan...!!! Two Platinum Century 3776. One Bourgogne, the other Chartres. The blue with a Music nib, the red with a Broad modified to stub. I've been to Chartres, France, when my readings lent the place a great deal of meaning, but in this case I like the Bourgogne color better.

I've taken some quick pictures, it's dark here already, tomorrow I expect to take better pictures and give both pens a trial run. I'll keep you posted.

No lagniappe from CFP, though.

Akkerman

I love the Internet. When I first discovered it I spent 24 hours non-stop in utter wonderment.

Just now, the Internet again affords me a wonderful surprise. Years ago I had to travel often to The Hague for work. Those were very gratifying times. I keep warm memories from The Hague.

One good day I didn't have much to do and wondered around the streets of that beautiful city. At one point I was facing the entry to this large gallery and I decided to walk in. There were all sorts of quaint stores on both sides of the broad walkway but what caught my attention was a pen store which looked ancient. I was fascinated by what I saw and ended up buying a tiny Visconti fountain pen which I have shown here somewhere else.

I was left wanting to return to that store, and I might just travel to The Hague to visit that store again.

The point is that looking around the Internet for pens, nibs and so forth and I ran into a review of Akkerman ink. I followed the lead and ended up in the website of that wonderful pen store at The Hague: Akkerman's. Totally amazing. They sell their own ink.

The bottles for Akkerman ink are outstanding and I ended up ordering three different colors to try out.

Hey, thank you for reading.

Sorry, this was supposed to be a new thread. Oh, well...

I've heard many stories of Akkerman. No one makes it out without a pen!!

Yes, indeed. You're so right. These pens are a great incentive for writing. I know.

Another thing! I have seen much worse photos!

Also I don't think it is really possible to take a bad photo of those beauties! They are rich aren't they? Fantastic for the price and they are great writers!

Now I need to get the blue and I want one with a music nib. Out of all the pens I own I do not have a music nib in the whole bunch.

About a month ago I bought a Platinum Chartres with a soft fine tip. I just started getting into pens last summer and so far I have not ventured past fine and medium gold nibs.

The Platinum is a nice pen but my favorite is my Sailor. It is a great writing pen.

There are Music Nibs and then there are musical nibs. One of my Parker "75"s sings when I write, a delightful mezzo soprano counterpoint sound that accompanies each stroke.

Fortunately it is minor. Extreme signing nibs also tend to spray droplets like a Golden Retriever fresh from the river.

One of those silver 75s has been on the corner of my eye for a long time.

Love the Golden Retriever simile.
