Is there a new scam out there about validating memership?

Anyone else get this (see attached .png)? I presume it is a scammer ...

Always vigilant!

Cheers,
Jonathan

The scammers can see members' emails that they advertise in the FS or WTB threads.

These email addresses are spammed/phished, also sold to other scammers pretending to be Paypal/Amazon/HSBC etc.

Most won't click. The ones who do may end up starting a process costing some poor bugger thousands.

It is called phishing, when a person is duped into handing over private info. Members like to call it hacking, removing their involvement in just handing the info over.

Seems patronising to say "Never click a link" but a minority of members here do just that. Then it's up to mods and other members to sniff and sense a different tone to the "member" in their postings.

It's half a nightmare. Don't click any email / PM link of any kind.

Yep don't ever click a link that you no nothing about. Even from a friend. Scammers and viruses use your friends address books to spread.

i dont click on links even when it appears to check out. ever

if my bank emails me and tells me to click to sign up for some offer or something, i go to the website, log on and sign up there.

clicking anything is just a bad habit as you can almost always avoid it.

We don't need to "re-validate" any of you guys; you are all certifiable.
