Leave it. Changing the crystal is an unwarranted waste of money. IMHO.

There are times when the magnification isn't clear. You have to catch it at certain angles to be able to have a clear view. What do you guys think?
I think the Explorer II looks good either way.

Modifying a Rolex is a bit of an insult to the brand IMO.
Some folks like to mess about with things like this. I guess its just the way they are.
It reminds me somewhat of people who chop off the tail of a pedigree dog or trim its ears so it looks better in their eyes.

Removing the date magnifier from the crystal has been done by a few here. The way I see it, if you don't like the 'cyclops' then flip the watch and buy a model that doesn't have one like these:

DSSD
DAYTONA
MILGUASS
SUB NO DATE
EXPLORER 214270

There are other models but I can't think of them ATM.

I do like the cyclops on my Expy 2 and wouldn't dream of taking it off.

But as they say, different strokes for different folks

Interesting analogy. I have yet to develop such an emotional relationship with a watch brand, and I mess about with my material objects as I please.

My dog's got all her limbs intact though.
