Thanks to everyone here; those warm messages much appreciated. To celebrate, we went out today to this great new restaurant (no, NOT Indian food!) that's just been launched. And by a strange coincidence, bumped into the Rolex AD who had also dropped in for a quick bite.
He admired our "his n hers" and then reminded me of something I'd quite forgotten: I had had a lot of misgivings about the 36 dia dial size of the classic Datejust/ Daydate; so much so that I'd almost cancelled an earlier order of a twotone Datejust.
Once again, it was my lovely wife who got me over this mental block- she convinced me to pick up a Datejust to match hers and this worked out so well that I then finally began to think very seriously about getting a Daydate
Anyway, here's a pic of that Datejust pair- the wife had got her's some months before I did. Come to think about it, that's always been the pattern I've followed- and frankly, it's a wise one
Apologies for the pic quality- yes, it is genuinely pathetic
