Etschell aka Eliot, thanks for sharing this! Very interesting!

Although I'm still a noob here, it became apparent to me very soon upon joining that SearChart aka Bas is quite a celebrity here, and has insight and wisdom well beyond his years.

I just stumbled on this and I have to say, this is extremely well done. I have seen Bas around the forums giving his amazing advice and it is so nice to "get to know" him a little better. The forums are better for having each of you. Looking forward to the next one!

This is a good read. Bravo.

Long time bump - just found the thread.

Bas - what watch are you wearing in your post-race photo?

That was the La Chouffe 50km trail run, I wore a Seiko SKX013 on a rubber strap

Is is safe to wear that while running???

Leave it to a watchmaker to eschew the Garmins and Polars for a race, and go with a mechanical watch instead! Too cool.

I've often thought about doing wearing a rolex for a race...just to have done it once. I did wear my Panerai for a 200 mile bike ride....if I ever get into a more interesting run I'll probably do it. Something like Desert Running series, or an Antarctica marathon...

Do you mostly do ultras now, or do you still toss in a standard marathon as well?
