Rolex GMT 16710 Advice UK
Hi All
Am new to purchasing ‘older’ Rolex pieces so some advice would be much appreciated. My currently collection consists of mainly the ceramic versions of the GMTs/Subs/Daytona’s etc, however I’ve been looking into potentially purchasing the 16710, in particular the 2006/07 models. My slight concern is could grey dealers be selling a ‘LN’ black version of the GMT but putting a ‘Pepsi bezel’ insert to sell for more or would it state LN or BLRO on the original papers? Also, any recommendations on where to purchase and if RSC you could purchase genuine ‘coke’ bezel insert and new bracelets from St James, London RSC? |

Yes. I did get bezel inserts from Rolex St James, but that was last year. You might need to call them just to check again if they still do. Bracelets as well are available there.
Regarding your first question that may be a tough one as most of the time you may not be able to tell which insert it originally came with. Some papers do indicate the original insert colours but most of the time you can’t tell. Only Rolex has the database which would have that information. Alternatively you could get one with a black insert for a better price then source for the other inserts that you are looking for. Good luck!

As far as I know, based on my research when I bought mine, the only 16710’s that came with the bezel variant (pepsi/coke/black) insert mentioned on the warranty card were the last couple of years of US watches. Therefore, Rolex would not generally have any idea, nor care, which insert your watch had and will literally fit whatever you want.

You can do anything you like. I don’t want to open a can of worms but I did speak to Rolex who said anything but if it’s came as an LN then no. I tried with my original LN and they would not change the bezel (uk watch, LN on hangtag) and I know others that have had the same issue.
That said, the poster above seems to have had more luck so maybe they are less stringent than they were. Mines a 2005 now and they sold me a jubilee and Pepsi/black bezels no issues at all. |

For the record, the jubilee is 850 quid and the inserts 55 each.

Makes no difference. Don’t pay more for a Pepsi as RSC will for you one for £50.
Only things to consider are the amount of metal/shape of the case, whether it’s reported as stolen and if it has papers or recent RSC service card. Being stolen is the most important but also the hardest to check (if private sale). The others should be reflected in the price. So choose an example that fits your wallet. Great choice on the 16710 btw. Look forward to an update! |

As mentioned in the other thread, watch out for RSC St James's closing in September.
If you are prepared to travel, you can go to RSC Kings Hill in Kent and get the same service. |

Of course, I knew mine was a Pepsi. It wasn’t on the original punch paper warranty, but the hang tag referenced 16710BLRO. I also have paperwork from Dallas RSC, and so I looked at that, and they referenced it as BLRO as well. So, hunt the complete sets if you want certainty the watch was born a Pepsi. |

I’d maybe try to knock a few quid off but the later watches are priced quite high generally and this doesn’t see too far out from others I’ve seen. Rolex service this year is a bonus. |

I think some of these pre owned dealers, the going rate for an 06/07 16710 is just under c£11k as there are hardly any under £10k. Sounds quite expensive.. Welcome others thoughts |

Yep, it’s certainly at the top end but it’s had a service which you’d probably want to do eventually if you picked one up. If you could knock them to somewhere under 11k then it might be ok.
It’s amazing how these have jumped.i picked up a 2005 full set last August for £8k Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I need to get a valuation for my Z serial which I bought brand new in 2008. It's not been worn yet and remains stickered up. |

Wow, you purchased your 16710 new back then & still haven’t worn it since ? If it’s the 3185 the value would prob be around 19k or so I would imagine.

When I bought my 2007 z Pepsi last November ($10.1k, £8.1k) people said it was expensive. I’ve no regrets as I love the piece. I’d go for it if great condition and you can get him down a bit. I took mine to RSC this March so I should add that to the cost, good the one you want has been done.

I imagine your piece will be a small fortune and easily eclipse the £14k 16710 that WF have for sale,, |

I bought my 2004 last May for £8,250 and I thought it was overpriced but it was the best I could find which was the most important thing to me. Glad I bought it when I did!
