Thank you all for your posts. This thread has really got me all "wound up", pardon the pun, and laughing. It's good to see everyone has a good sense of humor here in the forum. I'm glad I joined.

I draw the line on ball points. My dailies are the Mont Blanc and Colibri rollers on the left. I like the Colibri because I can fit a modern Pilot G2 gel refill...I like the way the ink flows on those. When I'm on the move I have a number of Cross pens that fit nicely in a shirt or in the Day planner and are easier to replace if lost or taken.

I also have my Grandfathers every day Scheaffers fountains that he used in the 1940's.

And on a serious note here, too - I don't use pens very often; only to sign things and write checks and do the grocery list. An expensive pen would be a waste for me. Plus, I would lose it, I'm sure. Now, a nice watch is more up my alley because I always have to know what time it is to keep track of my life! And I can't lose it because I don't take it off.

A few months ago I wrote about how I once flushed my first Mont Blanc - a gift - down the toilet. (this was years ago.) I had a hole in my pocket. Please don't ask for any more details.

Those are some beuutiful pens Brother. Imagine how many millions of those beautiful pens were tossed out when ball points arrived!!! Take good care of them and pass them down someday.

I have the same problem with my set. I think they were made for a doctor, cuz everything they write is illegible.
Seriously, my favourite pen is the one the boss uses to sign my paycheque with

I use a couple different mont blanc rollerball pens with medium ink. One is the rubber starwalker with metal lines. It costs too much and isn't that comfortable writing for long periods. While the pen is big and slightly too heavy, the tip where you put your finger is tiny. I love mont blanc because the ink. I am a lefty and the ink dries before I smear up the ink as I rub my hand over it. I like the feel of a G2, but my hand has ink on it and I manage to smear the page slightly. I am also impressed by the way the ink screws to lock into its place and never jiggles or rattles around. How do the other brands compare in ink refills? Comfort? and Price?

Well, it was a state government office building and the toilets were seriously industrial. And I had my pen in my skirt pocket. Must I really elaborate further!?? Do I have to tell about how the maintenance guys removed the toilet from the wall, to try and find it, but to no avail?

A funny story, but how about that guy in NYC that dropped his cell phone in the train toilet and went fishing for it and got his hand caught. He held up the transit system for hours while the fire dept tried to extract him. eek!!

If I were inclined I could go buy a Mont Blanc right now.

Certainly on a day at the range I have spent $300 on ammo.

But there are so many things I'd rather have for $300 I will never own a Mont Blanc. I have some Cross pens in my desk where they have sat for 20+ years unused which I received as a gift.

Right now my pen is a Delta Elite from Staples. That is about the most I'm willing to spend on a pen.

You can buy the pocket clips for the Space Pens now. I have a black one that cost quite a bit of money and I keep it in my Palm Pilot Wallet with the pen clipped in the pen holder.

I also like this pen as it is so versatile. This is the one item though where I don't care enough to get the best.

Yeah, but what would you spring for a red Swingline?

I am a Montblanc guy only!

I am aware of the fine writing pens out there but MY pen has to always be Montblanc. I have had 10 over the the last 12 years. I have a MB 221 which is a vintage fountain pen that is currently being shipped to me now. Fine writing is really based on writing with a fountain pen. It takes practice and can get messy. Ask me how. I also have a Vintage Mont Blanc retro that came out in Rollerball form recently. Pictured is my MB 221 thats in transit. The MB ballpoint and rollerball are better for daily use.

I write and draw quite a bit in my work, and I use the following:

- sketching and general notes: ARTLINE 200 Fineliner 0.4mm or Montblanc Starwalker Fineliner, medium point.

As far as a "decent" pen, my very favorite was a 25 year old Pelikan 200 series in blue marble that just broke. I sent it back to Pelikan for repair and the service person told me they no longer have parts. They will attempt to fix it, but if they are unable, I was told I'd be sent new upper and lower parts. Blame it on an abnormal pattern of axon-firing, but the last time I checked new upper and lower parts constitute an entirely new pen. Am I missing something here?

Of the one's I have, my favorite is my S.T.Dupont Rollerball with the gold cap and chinese lacquer barrel. Not only does it look great, and have a good weight to it, but it writes like a dream!
