AP boutique charges $200 to ship to APSC

So my watch (<1 year old, still under warranty) was losing about 25 seconds per day, and it was driving me nuts. I stopped by the AP boutique in Beverly Hills, CA to have it sent in for adjustment. The sales associate informed me there was a $200 shipping charge (round trip) to have it overnight Fedex'd to Clearwater, FL.

I'm trying to figure out if that's a normal charge? Given the watch is under warranty, I would have thought the $200 shipping charge is something AP would absorb. Thoughts?

Wrong info. Call Clearwater direct and they'll instruct the boutique to ship it to them at no charge. If easier speak to the boutique manager.

"AP Boutique" in BH is owned by Westime (hence the issue).

Call APSC and handle direct.

I have not experienced that in NYC. Is the AP boutique in BH really an AP boutique or is it managed by Westime? I think this may be an issue with Westime.

It used to be Westime, but about 8-9 months ago AP opened its own boutique in BH.

I guess I'll give Clearwater a call direct. Hopefully they can get my $200 refunded.

Actually no...Westime 'partnered' with AP on it (same with Las Vegas 'Boutique').

Trust me

I remember paying for shipping myself when I sent my Diver to Clearwater even though it was under warranty. They covered the shipping back to me. Didn't and still doesn't make sense to me...

As far as I know, there are only two AP boutiques (owned by AP) in the US: Bal Harbour, FL and NY.

Bal Harbour always took care of me and never charged a dime.

Los Angeles and Las Vegas boutiques are in partnership with Westime.

Call or email Clearwater and they will send a shipping package and cover shipping both ways if the problem is covered under warranty or if you're sending a watch out of warranty and paying for service.

Yea I'm going to call them tomorrow during their business hours. Unfortunately I already paid the $200 at the LA store (doh!), so not sure if I'll be able to recover that or not.

You tell them if they don't give you the money back as Clearwater is covering the shipping you'll poop in a bag and light it on fire and toss it at there front door.

So I called the AP service number (646-375-0807) which is a NY number I believe, and then the support rep called the Beverly Hills store for me. The support rep told me that basically Beverly Hills charges $100 for shipping and another $100 for "processing". The BH store at least agreed to refund me the $100 processing fee as a first time customer, but I'm still stuck with the $100 shipping.

I still don't think it's right to charge the $100 shipping given that it's a problem covered under warranty, but it's also not really worth my time/effort to argue over $100... I'm basically going to chalk it up as a $100 lesson to only deal with the service center directly going forward.

not the best outcome but at least you got some of your $ back. Just deal with APSC Clearwater. They are an absolute pleasure to work with. Maybe ask them for a travel case since you're out $100.

Even my AD in Toronto didn't charge me as my diver is under warranty. However, they first quoted $800 plus. It sucks but $100 is not so bad.

...and FL

Westime is the actual distributor for RM in the US (hence they distribute all RM's to RM AD's in the US and of course their own Westime 'Boutiques').

A few months ago. The Lv boutique charged me 450 dollars to ship a new purchase to me. That is absurd but they told me this was an AP policy. I shipped the watched insured by bona fide insured overnight carrier for 160 dollars with same declared value. I do think this is a bit of a scam. The boutique should not tack on a service charge. I only purchased ftom boutique because it was boutique only piece. But will go back to my AP AD for any future purposes

I know the RM store is there's also. I didn't even go inside. Didn't want to imbarrass myself. Those watches are out of my league. Was a little worried the sales person would be reluctant to show me anything ask most don't have the money to buy an RM from a boutique.

Did you buy your watch from the Beverly Hills boutique? If you are an existing customer, I am sure they will go out of their way to help you. But perhaps you should contact the AD that you purchased the watch from or deal with the APSC directly as others have mentioned.

I would inform them that you will NOT be shopping there for your next AP.

I bought my watch from a trusted seller here on TRF. Since I don't live too far from the BH boutique, I thought it'd be easier to just go through them, but that turned out to be a mistake.
