John Mayer Rolex Collection...
I never realized it before, but I was doing some Rolex research and I found out that John Mayer is a huge Rolex collector, or even a Rolex Fanatic like many of us.
In case you are not familiar with John, he is an Extremely Talented Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist. John wrote a great song that I love called, "Your Body is a Wonderland." I know he was singing about a beautiful woman, but maybe subconsciously he was singing about the lines on his Daytona Here are some pics that I hope you enjoy...This first one is with John Mayer wearing his Vintage Orange hand Explorer II, with Eric Clapton and B.B. King both wearing Day-Dates. Jake

Apparently John Mayer is so into his Explorer that he actually took these photos himself of his 2 flawless Rolex Explorer II watches.
On his blog he says: "A Pair of Rolex 1655 Explorer IIs...As sharp and clean as they come. That's right. I spend nights at home taking pictures of watches. And I love it. So there!!!" True story 111

a Daytona for sale at a auction house with was they say a very rare dial. Then it was a fake dial and there was some that say it was real and some not. If I´m not wrong so did Rolex Geneva say it was not a real dial. So now some call it the John Mayer dial. Jocke

I found this fascinating article about the controversy surrounding the "Mayer Dial." To read more and see photos go to:

Photo from Christie's Geneva Auction Lot 187. Nov 12, 2007 of a "Mayer Dial" that sold for $160,000.
As JJ would say "Now that is what I'm talking about!!!" If you want to see my Dream Daytona dials I am designing to make myself see this tread: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...=dream+daytona I designed the red dialed Daytona dial and hands and am going to have it custom made, and I am considering turning it into a side business...

OMG, this gets 10 times more interesting...
I found this in John's Blog...
"When O.J. Simpson was featured on TMZ with a now-infamous Rolex watch, I identified it immediately as a Submariner, in 18kt gold with blue bezel and blue dial. This is a rare watch made in the mid to late '80s and it's face has turned from blue to a brilliant purple. I've been on the hunt for this piece ever since, and I'm happy to report that my search has ended." "Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the so-called "O.J." Dial Submariner. As somewhat of an astute collector, there is no doubt in my mind that this watch as it appeared on O.J.'s wrist is 100 percent authentic. He's still got it, and now I do too." Now the thing that is so weird about this is that "O.J." was ordered by the court to turn the Yellow Gold Submariner over to Ron Goldman's family and he did but it was a fake replica. I think John is suggesting that it was real and that O.J. faked out the court. It is none of my business but fascinating. The most fascinating thing is the dial on the Sub has "Nipple" indices I have never seen. As Spock would say, "Fascinating, Captian."

Okay, I'm between 50 and death. I have no idea who John Mayer is. I do think he has great taste in watches. B.B. King I've met a few times (local kid made good.) He was back in town a month or so ago. Also great taste in watches. E.C. is more my speed. Never knew he wore Rolexes. It's amazing what you can learn on this forum.

Hi!
You should check on some John Mayer music. He is amazing and there is a reason why he is on the photo with B.B. King and Clapton. I recommend going to the iTunes store and probably strarting with his most popularly ranked songs. That way you can try a few out. I highly recommend you start with "Your body is a Wonderland" which is one of my favorite Mayer songs. I like your fascinating metaphor where you said "I'm between 50 and death." What is that great line from the Mel Gibson movie, I think it was Braveheart? where he say's "A man sees death smiling at him, and the best he can do is smile back." We are all on the same conveyer belt. It is amazing how much we can learn on this forum and something tells me this is just the beginning... Nice to chat with you, and you and every other member should at the minimum consider putting your first name in your profile so we can address each other by name. I don't mind calling you Beef, but it does seem a little awkward. Nice chatting with you Beef, and definitely check out John Mayer. Quote:

Jake, I'm Rick. Beef is a nickname I picked up in the military. (I don't own cattle or star in porn flicks.) It actually comes from Jethro Bodine. Some of us were watching "Beverly Hillbillys" reruns and Jethro was going to be a "Hollywood Movie Star." He picked Beef Jerky to be his stage name. One of my buds says "Can I call you Beef or is it Mr. Jerky?" We were drinking, so it stuck. I started posting as that on socnetcentral, a Special Operations website as that, since it would be recognizable to some. Jessica Simpson, I do know. I concur with Mr.Cowboy99 ( who may own cattle, porn star????)-he does have great taste in the 3 W's.
