I currently have an extensive Rolex collection and never had an interest in winders because I either wear them regularly in rotation and when they do need to be reset, they are quite easy and I enjoy engaging my watches.

I don’t particularly enjoy setting my GMTs, so I tend to hand wind if I haven’t worn them in a while.

My question, when you say Patek supplies a Winder, is this AD specific (like some Rolex ADs provide SWAG and some not so much)?
Patek, to my knowledge, only supplies a winder with their perpetual calendar models. The current winder can be bought separately and what a particular AD may do about pricing if you buy the 5396 from them, varies with the AD. I am assuming ADs have some flexibility on winder prices unlike the watch prices.

It makes me chuckle to think about the idea that a perpetual calendar virtually never needs to be reset, because it adjusts for February and even leap year. But people who own them have to reset EVERYTHING every time they wear them because they have been sitting for a week or a month or whatever. lol

Just having fun....I do think perpetual calendars are really fun and cool, at least in theory.

If you don’t care about the moon phase I’d just set it when you want to wear it. I have two ACs and I just set them when I wear them. If I’m in a hurry I won’t even bother with the date.

The only watch I always set right is my DD because the day is so visible and obvious.

I mean at this point the function of a watch is not important when you have a cell phone (pocket watch) with every complication in any watch + everything else and the accuracy of an atomic clock or any time source you want.

The PC or PCC for me is more about what it is an object rather than the function. Especially manual wind PCC, I mean… manual wind perpetual calendar.

If course, I agree.
