If your Panerai has polished hands...

...does it bother you if the polished hands are not perfect? Meaning they have some sort of flaw/imperfection on them. Either it be scratches or something else. Not like it’s very noticeable, but at certain angles and with the right lighting, I can see that the hands on my 233 are slightly scratched. And I recently had it serviced... though I can’t be positive that the hands were perfect before the service.

Are your polished hands perfect?
Is it too much to expect the hands to be perfect?

I’ve noticed this issue too on other brands/watches, so it’s probably more common than it should be.

It would bother me tremendously. First, because it was not me who scratched it, second, it is not on the back case, but right in front of my eyes. On a separate note, I had some negative experience with Breitling Service Center which scratched up my new Emergency - badly (during routine battery replacement). Watch will go back.

It wouldn't bother me if I don't see it with my bare eyes. The good thing about getting old is that is that the eye sight is getting worse and you see less imperfection ... haha

but if i can see it, then i would probably get it replaced.

Yes, it would bother me. There are no scratches on the 512 I just purchased.

If I had to really try to see the imperfections, it would probably only mildly annoy me and I would wait for the next service interval to have corrected. If the flaws were easily seen, I would most likely lean towards getting them addressed quickly.

I’ll bring the watch back to the BH Boutique when I pick up my 305 that is currently being serviced. Hopefully they don’t cratch up the 305 as well.

Seeing that’s it wasn’t noted on my diagnosis that the hands were scratched, they should honor the repair I hope. Will keep you guys updated.

Also, to clarify, the imperfections are not very obvious. You have to look at the hands closely and it has to reflect the light just right for you to be able to see them. More like marks towards the edges. I have bionic eyes so rarely anything escapes my eyes, but to most people they probably won’t see anything.
