I miss my Oysterquartz... Hopefully I'll get it back from RSC sometime this year.

What services did you approve to be performed? If you don’t mind sharing costs as well I think this is helpful for owners to understand costs associated with ownership, thank you.

Service costs

Got mine back from NYC RSC in November. 700.00 service. Crown 46.00. Crystal 133.40. Bezel (17000)115.00. And mine needed a motor module as it was inop when I purchased it. So I would say service costs are inline with other Rolex models unless the motor module is cooked. Don’t believe the inflated estimates of electronic repairs. Or imagined stories of movements being replaced. But do realize you are tethered to RSC as they won’t give up parts for these. Mine spent months at the alternative for motor module repair with no luck. And they were told the motor module was back ordered. A call to RSC proved that untrue. My 17000 was purchased last February for 1200.00. So I am 2900.00 total for a freshly rebuilt mark 1 17000. With a 2 year warranty and the provenance of RSC paper work. I am very happy indeed.

Thanks guys!

I literally just purchased it from a local AD in January 2020. I noticed an issue with the day and date not changing instantaneously, instead sticking for several hours before completing the change. I took it back to the AD in February and they sent it to RSC. It's under warranty from the AD so I can't help with costs for the service, as I don't have any this time. I was supposed to get it back by April 1, but with the Corona situation things changed.

This is great news, as you stated there are many myths about 2k plus service for these marvels. I guess the only variable that may have some viability is, will they stop servicing these things anytime soon?

Bas any intel on this?

Some one here who seemed to be in the know stated no worry of RSC running out of parts for these. He was responding to one of my posts. Very similar to the above. He also stated knowingly that Rolex does not sell parts for Oysterquartz. My AD admitted to jumping through months of hoops to get RSC to give up a battery bridal. So I believe this to be true.

I researched my past posts. Here is the quote posted by daveo5 Rolex doesn’t sell any oysterquartz parts. Rolex policy is all oysterquartz models will be serviced by Rolex. Parts availability, plenty of what whatever you need. Be advised that there are only four service dial colors available.

Sorry it looks like I left out the price of the motor module. It was $600.00 even.

Go for one they are great!

As far as size I don’t have any other 36mm watches but I do feel it wears a bit larger than a 36 but still smaller than a 40 so honestly I think your desire for 39 might be already met. Give it a shot, I think many owners will agree with this sentiment.

This is really helpful - I sometimes think of getting an Oysterquartz from my birth year (late 70s), and lack of service/parts had worried me.

Mine’s a 5.8m serial, went to RSC last summer. There and back quickly, under warranty through August 2021. Fun watch, highly recommended!

Lovely OQs, all in pristine condition. I hope to share mine (which is a bit more worn) once I can post pictures.

I really like the aesthetics of the case/bracelet integration in these. Reminds me a bit of AP. Looks surprisingly contemporary and fresh still.
