Jubilee bracelet is metal not formal

Many people say jubilee bracelets are dressy or formal. I disagree, I think they look like medieval chain mail

Am I alone here?

No metal watch band is dressy but the jubilee is dressier than the oyster.

Please start more threads lol. This is good!

Jubilee and Oyster are in the same category for me. Both can be worn with anything.

I suppose that an Oyster bracelet with no polished center links could be considered less formal than a Jubilee, if shiny = formal. But my brain doesn't automatically register that distinction. I have to think about it.

I wore mine the other day on a suit and the “dressy police” didn’t arrest me...... does that make it dressy??

Jubilee isn’t nearly as dressy or formal as people make it out to be. It just looks a little more refined than the oyster bracelet but can go with anything.

This bears a much stronger resemblance to chain mail.

LOL, look at this knuckle-dragging vulgarian. Probably had his membership from the Union League Club revoked for wearing this in the Oak Room

The Jubilee is dressy in my opinion, but it is definitely not formal, at least in the traditional sense.

Tradition seems to be dead or it's being bludgeoned to death at every turn.

By older standards the DateJust on jubilee is a sport watch and by definition dress watches are worn on straps with simple dials, cases, and movements. Older is the key issue here; the standards changed quite a while ago and now almost anything goes. (Queue "Heaven Knows, Anything Goes.")

I just don’t care. I’ll wear an Apple Watch formal, my sub or whatever I please. It’s 2020, not 1920.
