DSSD Diver extension removal?
Hi,
I just joined the DSSD club and couldn't be happier! Question- I've read that removing the diver ext is beneficial and lends toward a better fit. Right now I have it still there and watch seems to fit comfortably so I'm wondering if I'm missing something... And if so, please advise on the proper way to remove it. Thanks guys in advance.

DSSD Diver extension removal?
Congrats on the DSSD!
If you have a comfortable fit I would suggest leaving it factory fresh. I removed mine as I'm not comfortable after removing one link, so I took out the extension and left all the links as is, and clasp adjusted it for a better fit. |

If you're happy with the fit, then I would just leave it alone. I took mine out as it was more comfortable. I also found that I once caught the extension on something and it worked like a lever and almost popped open my clasp. After that I considered it a safety issue.

Took mine out as well. For me it was much more comfortable as well as the clasp was sitting different when closed with the divers extension. Anyway out it went and I liked it.

Ditto. Much more comfortable without the extension.

Always love these threads! People who don't own a DSSD usually say keep the extension its a dive watch and not complete without it, but the people who actually own & wear a DSSD have nearly always removed it as the watch has a MUCH better fit & balance without it!
You can put it back on within 5 minutes if you ever need to but the way the clasp hugs the wrist without it make the DSSD instantly more wearable, mine certainly won't ever be going back on as the DSSD is a keeper for sure! |

I think it depends on the shape of the wrist... a round wrist seems to accomodate the diver's link better than a flat, "square" wrist. I have the latter type of wrist and found the diver's link angled right on the edge of my wrist... not comfy, at all. Not pretty, either, with that diver's link lifting the end of the clasp up.

I was in between links, so removing the extension gave the perfect fit / balance.
If yours feels right, leave it alone and enjoy! |

Congrats and welcome to the Dssd club...
If its comfortable for you having the diver extension on, then just leave it. It was comfortable for me too when it was all the way tucked in but once my wrist expand during the day and I extract out the diver extension to loosen the watch, that's where the uncomfortable feeling starts as it doesn't grip my wrist nicely. Btw, is the diver extension on yours all the way tucked in? |

Mine needed a link removed. After reading here about removing the diver's extension for a more comfortable fit, I had it removed instead if the link.
Never only had a link removed, and then tried in on with the extension still there. |

if you have an early M or V series you probably have the first version of the dssd glidelock buckle. that one can lift a bit when closed but its not a safety or imminent buckle fail issue, but rather an OCD one (anyone can help explain please feel free). the newer dssd glidelock seems to have addressed this mild observation. removing the link allows it to fit more flush. i removed mine (V series) and it doesn't lift anymore. You'll just need to reattach all the links to compensate when adjusting it when worn. just my observations. |

I thought mine was perfectly comfortable with the extention so left it. However one day I was bored so removed it to see what the fuss was about. It was a lot more comfy and glad I did it.
Only takes a few mins so maybe worth trying anyhow |

So I removed it today and wore it for a bit...jury's still out. It seems to hug the bottom of my 7" wrist where it was more "squared off" before with it still installed. I will give it to tomorrow and see but if I had to decide now, I'm leaning toward going back to stock. Without it, it seems a bit less balanced if that makes any sense. Thoughts?

My wrist is at 7.5", and I removed the diver's extension on mine, leaving full links intact, that is, counting 6 links 12 o'clock side leading to the clasp's end, 5 links at 6 o'clock side. |

I have an 8" square-wish wrist and never noticed the divers extension and don't have any discomfort. I do wonder sometime whether it's a case of you don't know what you don't know but, if it ain't broke...

Exactly what it was! I put it back in a little while ago and bam, back to instant comfort. My wrists are squarish too and for whatever reason it fits perfectly with in installed stock and slightly let out via the micro adjustment. I guess the only thing I got out of starting this less-than-riveting thread is that everyone has different fits and if it's comfortable out the box, let it be! Thanks everyone.

Kept mine in.
I set my clasp in the middle setting of the 20mm extension so I could have 10mm of movement either larger or tighter then removed a normal link from the 12 o'clock side. This gives me the ability to adjust on the fly for everyday wear as well as use the diver extension when I get in the water, which is a couple times a week. Best of both worlds for me. :-) |

Just did the same on the Glidelock on my new SDc - definitely makes a real difference and watch sits much better on my wrist - many thanks!
