Interesting to see these "either/or" threads.....

I for one strongly suspect that a person can very happily own BOTH the GMT Master II C AND the Deepsea Seadweller, particularly since according to the posts I see above the prices are falling so rapidly that soon the dealers will be paying YOU just to take them off their hands.

When the GMT IIC came out i bought one but just didn't like the size/weight increase, the bracelet is fantastic and more comfortable than the older ones, but the case just didn't sit right, so i flipped it and went back to the submariner.

The DSSD would be way too much watch for my wrist, and as stated above i think the waiting lists would double if the Daytona had a date function, if they do put a date function on then there are thousands of new names on the waiting lists, i can see the first batch going well above 200% list!

Is it becoming a 'Vegemite Watch'........

Less people like Vegemite right!

problems for the dssd may occur later next year if the new updated ss sub date gets released. that imo will push damand for this watch even lower as the sub is a more iconic and desireable watch!!! lists for the dssd are closed in uk but i got one in the second week of its release when i was 86 on a large uk dealers list which covered all it outlets. are you telling me they had over a 100 dssd delivered in the 1st month of issue, i think not!!! more likely it got passed on for one reason or another before it got to me!!!

My AD has closed his waiting list. Are you from the planet zob?

Edit: now I see why you don't like it...you have the old one.
If you define 'flop' as not acheiving anything like the anticipated demand then it sadly is a flop. Still a wait (standard Rolex Marketing strategy to create desire) but it hasnt had the Daytona effect that Rolex had hoped for , it will sit around jewellers windows early next year along side date justs and subs all day long.

Also a smaller lesser AD will close the list as they wont get the stock like the bigger players, so better to say no to a customer than keep them waiting forever and lose them to another jeweller.
