Finally got this baby sized. It’s fantastic. The blue dial with the contrasting solid white subdials plus the touches of red make for a very fun watch. My first Speedy - very cool!

Can you guys believe this guy? 1st Speedy and lands this one of all the watches......big congrats my friend. It's absolutely beautiful and I did a complete 180 turn when it came to these Tokyo Speedies....I started lukewarm since I own the previous LE with similar aesthetics but these are definite improvements and are in mind the best when compared with Gemini 4, Mitsukoshi, and the Apollo XI 35 anniversary. Simplly outdid themselves on this one.......not to mention the bad@$$ packaging of the Tokyo Olympic. Well done LE.

I stopped into the local Boutique tonight to say hi to my friends there. Interestingly, the manager said he had gotten an email just this morning detailing how they could facilitate sourcing one of these Japanese Limiteds. It involved wiring payment directly to Japan but delivery would be local. Supply was very limited, needed to act quickly if I wanted one. I would love to have the blue dial but I just picked up a BLRO last week so my wallet is tapped.

So a couple of weeks ago, my sister was passing through Kansai and I asked her to keep an eye out for the blue one and to buy it without asking me if she came across one. Amazingly, she saw one in the window and confirmed that it's for sale but she was very much in danger of missing her flight so she had to leave. I was bummed and joked that she should have missed her flight (it was Christmas Eve). Disappointed, but she made it home for Christmas and that's all that mattered.
I get a text late last night and she said she found one this time in Narita! I can't believe my luck! It's number 4XX/2020 if that's any indication of distribution. I can't believe my luck! Does anyone have an opinion on the Blue Panda vs. the Gemini IV? I was way late to the game and always thought the Gemini IV is beautiful am wondering how the two compare. |

1) I like the stepped dial better with the curving markers/indices. 2) I like the cleaner dial with the only red accent being Speedmaster instead of the years. 3) I like the newer bracelet with the quick adjustment clasp. 4) I like the packaging far better with the white Tokyo 2020 motif and the premium looking box. 5) I like the stamping pattern for the Tokyo 2020 better on the caseback. So is it a complete fail for the Gemini IV? Not exactly..... 1) The Gemini IV does have the hesalite crystal which I still prefer over sapphire. But I think the more sapphire speedies I own, the less of an issue this becomes for me. I stopped seeing the milky ring and now appreciate the curvature from the side as well. 2) The blue on the Gemini IV vs the Tokyo 2020 is different. They are both sunburst but of a different shade. I think the Gemini IV looks lighter in real life....perhaps I can do a side by side. This is really preference on which you prefer yourself. Hope that helps, I'll try to take both watches out and do a comparison pic so people can see. |

Thanks! I should have just quoted your previous posts because I was actually hoping you would chime in. I only need one blue speedy and now that I’m committed to the 2020 the Gemini is now off my board so the discussion is pointless for me but I wanted the opinion of someone who owns both. So thanks again for your feedback and I’m excited to hear that the sunburst is actually darker. I just buy what I think looks good, and I’m not very well versed in the details so I don’t know the difference between sapphire and hesalite so it sounds like I’ll be perfectly happy with the 2020. I’ll post pics when it eventually arrives. Mahalo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I can’t speak on the comparison, but I will say the blue 2020 Tokyo Olympics is sensational. I grab this more than many others when a steel watch is desired. Congrats in advance!

These are truly incredible.
I actually got one through my boutique for another member. It’s not picked up yet, but he wired money to Japan. It’s stunning in pics. I wish I got one for myself.

I did not know that it is possible to do that. I tried with my omega dealers both in Doha and US and both confirmed that it is not possible to get them outside Japan. Instagram: @mydream_watches |
