DSSD flipped due to size?

Just curious, how many have owned the DSSD but ultimately flipped it due to its massive size. This is the one watch I want to own so bad but realty sets in and I tell myself it’s just too massive to wear and I don’t want it to sit at its hefty price point.

Not flipped but I returned mine to my AD in 2008 for that reason. But, that was before flipping for profit was so common.

I did twice. 100% because of the size, more specifically cause of the height and weight balance.

I am very curious to see the new one though.

I have...twice! Love the watch to pieces, and was told it looks fine, but I just can’t get past the size in my mind. Wear what makes you truly happy

These are my exact concerns. I love the watch and the engineering that went into it, plus love that JC wore it on his trip to the Mariana Trench. I would pass on any other watch of this size but just love this one.

Although I do not own a DSSD, I do have a Seiko SLA019 which has a similar size and I am considering flipping it for this reason. It's just so heavy on my 6.5in wrist.

The new one fits better. Problem is, JC didn't wear the new one for his expedition.

I like mine D-blue. It is big, but I got used to it. It is for people who want to wear big watches. Compare to some out there, DSSD isn't that huge.

Would hardly call it massive and by reading the hundreds of posts on forum that bigger heavier is better is this not the case now.

A quick search would reveal that by and large the 126660 owners are very satisfied with the new DSSD’s fit and feel. As for myself, I bought it for a weekender and it became my daily.

I kind of got the feeling the trend was leaning back towards more modest sizes and the the 45-48+ was kind of fading a bit.

If I'm honest with myself 39-40mm is my sweet spot, but the DSSD D Blue is just so mesmerizing.

Its not massive by todays “standards” no.

IMO it looks equally as silly on a person with small wrists as does a 40mm watch on a person with 8”+ wrists.

I own one and have 8” wrists. Its comfortable on me but im a big guy with large wrists/arms. IMO after seeing how the Daytona looks on you in your pic (if thats you) I would suggest NOT getting the dssd. It would appear that the lugs would way over hang your wrist. Usually that makes for a very uncomfortable watch.
To each their own and im sure plenty of guys do it but I have to agree thats why so many of them get “flipped”.

He wore a Deepsea during the dive. Check out the movie. I sold my first because of being self conscious about the size, it looked and felt big. Then bought it a second time and ended up trading it for something I wanted more, size wasn't the issue. Now bought the new one for the third time, still feels big, but this time it isn't going anywhere.

In my opinion op, you probably should not get it. Richard makes a great comment about ownership. It will look good and feel good but it will tower on your wrist and it will get into your head. Eventually you'll sell it. You already have a preconceived notion, it will actually get worst once you put the watch on, I think.

Amazing watch, seems to be causing a stir on the forum lately,,,and I love mine to death but it is a polarizing watch and works a lot better in a rotation.

I bought it new from an AD when it first came out. I owned it for several years and sold it due to its size. I lost the greatest amount of money from selling a Rolex on that watch..........essentially a $2,000 loss.

Never really lost any money selling a Rolex other than that watch. Worth it though......I don’t miss it a bit. That was when I instituted my personal rule of no watch > 40mm. BTW, I have 7” wrists.

It only looks silly if you have been stereo typed in to thinking its silly, myself have 8 half inch wrists and quite happy wearing some of my vintage and they are 30mm to 33mm.

i thought i would prefer the new one (flipped the older DSSD as well) however the bracelet to me just makes it more massive. I always thought the thin bracelet was a flaw but in retrospect i prefer it. The watch itself is still too thick for me regardless of the bracelet though.

It’s big for Rolex standards but really just comes down to personal perception. I’m 6’ with a 6 3/4” flat wrist and can safely say the 126660 is one that will never leave the collection.

I had a D-Blue I bought on impulse late last year just because it was offered by my former AD. Loved the dial, but geez was it massive. Sold it off to a friend and lost a couple hundred bucks.

It’s not for everyone, but you won’t know until you try. Also, if you have a smaller sized wrist, try it on a rubberb.

It’s all about mindset and accepting the watch for what it is. It seems a lot of people have this size “sweet spot” and apply it to everything without adjusting for proper context. I used to be guilty of this. I have a 6.75 in wrist and convinced myself the SD43 was too big despite friends that I trust saying otherwise. One day I had an epiphany, it’s a saturation divers watch, it is supposed to be big! Ever since then It hasn’t bothered me at all. Is it too big for a suit, yes, but that’s not why I bought it and I have a 36 mm IWC I wear for that. Bottom line is that when analyzing size try to use the proper context before talking yourself out of something you love. Oh and have someone you trust that will tell you if it looks clownish.

He is not even wet so why the need for a dive watch? Isn’t this like wearing a nomex race suit while playing Grand Turismo?
In reality he could be wearing a Cellini Prince in that Submarine and it would work perfectly.
