Rolex 1655 original crown
Hello all,
I have another question about my 1655 MK2 dial, MK2 bezel sold early 1974. I think that it is not the original crown. Almost all 1655 I see have the smaller Rolex emblem offset to the side. However, according to the first owner, the watch probably did not receive a crown swap. I would be glad about any estimations. Kind regards Alex |

For me, "probably" means it could or could not have been changed. Probably is not a definite answer and it means likelihood - it appears the original owner is not sure of himself and there is a likelihood that it has not been changed.
Either way, if it bothers you, have it changed. Most collectors that I know do not concern themselves too much with crowns that have been changed out for an updated crown - early 1680 Submariners are a perfect example of this. Additionally, the difference in the watch's value when you compare the original crown versus a later service crown makes little to no difference in the value of the watch. Enjoy the watch and the pleasure it brings you.

In my experience, original owners have terrible memories. ;-)

To add a small point - if it is indeed an original crown - and you choose to replace/update it - keep the original one. The trajectory of ridiculousness in originality could make a difference down the line. Either if you ever sell the 1665, or decide to never sell it, the value of that original crown could prove to be more than a small sum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
