Patek winder box question

Hey,

I just put my 5320G onto the oem winder box. Its pretty straightforward and the pillow is secured. However, i noticed every rotation there is a sort of vibration/skip. The watch isn’t hitting anything but it seems the weight is imbalancing and making the winding a bit choppy. Worried it puts undue stress on the movement from shock from the skip since it runs continuously. Is this a defect of my box or just normal poor design?

I have the same winding box and it does not do that. Are you sure the watch holder has been pressed down fully into the winder?

Yeah it's pretty hard to not get that right, pushed it in all the way and clicks in.

I would consider not using it at the moment and have your winder checked by AD

Yes, spoke to HSWA and they said that Geneva can do repairs on the box. The issue is these style boxes are discontinued, so I doubt they would have a replacement, and there are like 5 versions of it (mines the H997.EMTO.V3-SF) and not easy to find the same one around to replace. Will be dropping at my AD tomorrow..

AD will hopefully supply you with a new one. Mine does not do that.

I bought a PP drum winder for my 5320 - £650. It’s so much more useable IMO. I didn’t notice anything wrong with the original winder box supplied with the watch.

The new travel winders are a great size, but I have e never figured out how to put the watch on the holder. Seems like it will scratch the watch to me.

There are two sizes of slightly sprung / bendy watch holders for a range of wrist sizes. I have not tried them with metal bracelets but they work well with leather straps and Aquanaut rubber. Perhaps adjust strap length? Put the watch on the flat side and do the strap up as if it is on a wrist.

Close the watch clasp as it you were wearing it, and then using a bit of force put it on the black holder. It took me a while to find the confidence to use the force required to put it on correctly, but it’s fine and hasn’t caused any damage to my watch. Tried on both steel and gold with no issues.
